I think Cumberbatch's Dr. Strange could easily replace RDJ or Chris Evans as the MCU frontman.

He starts out as a Laissez-Faire dipshit and ends up going to war with the Avengers because he wants government oversight; and all of it is very believable. Every single Stark movie is about him dealing with a certain aspect of his personality negatively impacting him.
