I love how Musashi apparently just sleeps literally anywhere, instead of in the room in the castle specifically prepared for him. Nope, that's for storing and playing with all his toys. He's like kid Goku.

Ben's death (and his name) are a reference to the tale of Benkei, a Japanese warrior-monk most famous for the manner of his death. He died standing on his feet, shot full of arrows by enemies too scared to set foot on the bridge he was defending and face him in melee. They just kept shooting him, and he kept standing there, until long after he'd died. Eventually somebody was smart enough (or brave enough) to go check and see what was going on, and he just keeled over at that point. "The Standing Death of Benkei" is a popular tale often referenced in Japanese media. Ed's VA does a good job of selling his stutter.
