Wanting to be 'complete player,' Joel Embiid works on leading fastbreak: Toward the end of Sixers practice Monday, Joel Embiid participated in a fast-break drill … by himself. Embiid brought the ball up the floor in a one-on-none situation against members of the Sixers' coaching staff. He's already showed off his three-point shooting skills and now he’s running the break? “I’ve always thought I was a point guard,” Embiid joked. “So that’s something that I want to do.”

Embiid was raised in an upper middle class home in the Cameroonian capital of Yaounde. His parents made him wash his own clothes by hand, but they employed a maid. His mother drove a Mercedes. He ate omelettes for breakfast. He was not allowed to play sports until he had memorized all the notes he jotted throughout the day’s classes. “I was a little soft,” Embiid says, “but the Americans had no idea about any of that. They just knew I was from Africa. They thought I grew up poor, in the jungle, killing lions. I was like, If that’s how they think of me, I’m going to use it.”

I guess. I'd be really surprised if Ingram surpasses Wiggins at any point. But yeah it's early. Towns is a better player than Wiggins (a lot) and hasn't showed it much this season and that will change.

But that's a conversation for future me. I say the future is ours if you can count (three point made shots).

Crazy that Kansas had both Wiggins and Embiid, didn't do much with it although Embiid I think was hurt for the tournament

They only started to gel in a way that you'd think for about three games before Embiid hurt his back and was basically done for the season. But in that moment I saw the glory.

By the way, Wiggins set the Kansas freshman scoring mark (Wilt didn't play his freshman year) and scored in double figures in 29/35 games including 41, 30, 22 and 19 in his last four games before the Stanford debacle.

It pisses me off when people say he had a pedestrian college career, freshmen don't do that at KU.

The Glumslinger posted:

Thats what happens when you have a college coach who refuses to change his system to fit his players.

Wiggins was a 3 with a bad handle but you think they should have run the offense through him? So he can develop and the team can lose?
