SSJ2 Goku Wilders posted:

it's what lagotto (far right dutch poster) said years ago when the SP was due to win big: the dutch have a tendency to try and get 'working' coalitions, consequently leading to voting outside of their own interest because politics as an instrument of reasonable interest is seen as scary until that interest falls within enlightened public opinion (similar to the overton window idea).

popular ideology holds that the dutch themselves can be held liable for the current economic downturn, at the very least for the economy not 'improving'. the vvd has come to be relied upon as the fiscally conservative party that can return things to order by calming the wrath of the market god. the vvd takes the place of the whip in this dutch form of political self-flagellation. austerity is believed to be the answer as a type of collective tightening of the belt, despite all evidence to the contrary, or rather, because of the cultural hegemony of 'common sense' neoclassical economic thinking rather than heterodox and scientific, empirically-grounded explanations for economic crisis. of course, all of the 'tightening' is concentrated on the lower classes, for obvious reasons of freeing up the capital to be re-invested to make up for everything that's been lost to the effects of accumulation.

you can look at the corpus politic as a dichotomy, xenophobic nationalist eco-Romanticists on the one side (Jobbik, Wilders, SD), and 'multicultural' nominally progressive, but ruthless Liberals who will do the bidding of the capitalist class exclusively. there is some overlap in ideology, but it is opportunistic as of this moment still. the vvd might make light of the 'issues with islam' but mostly to draw PVV voters or as a campaign of rhetoric against the left parties. there's an alt-right tendency to paint the entirety of academia and enlightened opinion as a monolith of 'left-fascist' thought, which is inclusive of immigrants, so that's one venue of attack that they sometimes use. most of the racism and xenophobia you see frmo the VVD imho is not so much structurally planned as it is just the very general Dutch white fragility and complete lack of awareness shining through their (in)famous veneer of tolerance.

left parties have no viable alternative and there is no reason to vote for them. all of them will fall in line with the latter mentioned style of party and will at most be able to change a percentage here or there on the national level.
yah i agree 100% but its really on the left that theyve allowed this bullshit narrative to take hold because apart from the den uyl administration left-wing cabinets have always been better with money than the right

my mothers family are poor rotterdammers and the family of my gf are poor almeloers and they all vote pvv because they dont trust the left anymore and i dont blame them because can you think of a single time in the last ten years gl or the pvda tried to connect with those people? best case scenario is they vote sp which is of course preferable

if i could give the pvda one piece of advice its to gently caress off out of amsterdam and start a new headquarters in dronten or whatever

i want to tell a story from my country

this is a kinda famous bronze sculpture in the Amsterdam red light district:

This wasn't commissioned by the city, it just appeared one morning in february 1993. We're Dutch and we plan every loving meter of this swamp country, so it would not stand, and the city send some people to remove it. They tried to pry it out, but they couldnt get it loose. It turned out it had a cubic meter of concrete under it. This is in a very heavy tourist district, and it was placed overnight. The city finally removed it, but for an unknown reason placed it back a month later a few feet from its original place. Noone knew who made it.

In the years before the city had a contract with The Unknown Sculptor that in exchange for anonimity, they could place some sculptures throughout the city without payment, and it was quickly concluded that this was the same person. Other works of his/her:

(the blue violinist/Man trying to catch tram 5)

or

(the treecutter)

or

(the violinist, in the lobby of the city hall)

people have tried for years to find out who it is, but since the city never paid a cent for the sculptures and noone noticed (or tells) who installed them its hard to find leads and those who should know have never said a word in 30 years. So, apparently there's a sculptor in the netherlands who has enough money and connections to dig a hole for a 5000 pound slab of concrete in the city center in one night without informing the city and can just get away with it.

There is however one famous person in the Netherlands known for her love of sculpting, violin, connections and tons of money

Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands

So if you ever visit Amsterdam and smack your toe against a titty on the oudekerksplein, I'd say it's about a 65% chance our last queen made that titty

Ok, I will explain this for the Americans. We have a website called stemwijzer, it's a little quiz that you do to help you pick the party you agree with most. Here are my results:
stemwijzer is garbage in a coalition-based system

who should you vote for? the party whose core thesis you most agree with
sp: there is more than enough money in the netherlands to give unemployed and low-income people a much better life
gl: we need to become energy-neutral and focusing on endless economic growth is retarded
denk: erdogan is real, and strong, and he is my friend
pvda: our welfare state is fundamentally good and we need to preserve it for a new age
cda: a more moral society is a better society
d66: the netherlands needs to become an education superpower in a united europe
vvd: people know what is best for them, and they deserve the money they earn
pvv: to preserve the netherlands we need to get out of the EU, and get islam out of the netherlands
cu/sgp/pirates/50+/new racists: fart

After the elections there will be bargaining and while the vvd might say that everyone will get a free 1000 euro, that's the first thing they drop. I think this is more or less fairly what the parties would bring to the table
