Update: I stopped watching and went to the store during the one where they go to the mansion for a party and nobody is there. I had been watching for like 4 hours at that point. And hell, I was scared!

Except for the skype story where he's aiding the aliens, reversing his presumed hero role. What about the honeymoon one? I don't remember if the party that met a violent end was employing a male gaze, but it's been a while since I saw it.

The Witch was actually pretty disturbing in parts. Jay from RLM recommended it, so hit it up. Forgot what year, but it's the latest movie of that title.

thanks. I'll check em out. I'll also look for a couple of old school faves: The Raven it's heaped high with stars! Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, and loving near teenagers Sharon Tate and Jack Nicholson! and Premature Burial I've seen it only once in my life, but the dream sequence struck me as both incredibly creepy and wile e coyote hilarious at the same time. e: the 62 film http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056368/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 e2: ha! I remember now, it was in 1972, a halloween triple feature at a local theatre: Premature Burial, and the other two movies were House of Usher and Pit and the Pendulum. I went with my brothers and our cousin egghead was there in the front row tripping on acid and digging the movies. dee eight fucked around with this message at 01:26 on Oct 31, 2016 |

It's bog standard up to the halfway point, and then goes all People Under the Stairs. I tired like three times to watch it but kept giving up before it gets good.

the succubus doesn't like the one guy who appears to be the most decent one out of the group (he stops the one dude from passed-out-drunk-raping the other girl), but why does she appear to be the most attracted to the dude with the glasses who's recording? he's like neutral at best, is that a desirable quality for whatever she is (succubus or whatever)?

It Follows for example im pretty sure that movie was trying to say something cause but it totally goes to poo poo about halfway through and wastes the excellent premise and tension it had build up

I hate it. It Follows wasn't awful on the first watch but they were also extremely heavy handed with their "message"/metaphor. I think even the best horror movies have some kind of message/point, but what separates them from the bad modern ones is knowing when to be subtle about it instead of assuming your audience is braindead and needs it spoonfed to them.
