It's rather heartwarming to see a company take such a personal approach to modding their game. Then again, the Saint's Row guys/gals have always been very involved with their fans, even Lowtax, IIRC!

I think he added the Kind trait so that those colonists would be more likely to get into relationships on account of other people having a higher opinion of them, though, so at least he addressed some of it.
