More to that Gategate thing: Arthmoor was one of the modders granted early access to Skyrim Special Edition, and as such, ported over the Open Cities mod with the Oblivion Gates intact.

The only modder I kind of felt bad for was Chesko mainly because it sounded like he got suckered into it by Bethesda and Valve as opposed to the others like Isoku, and was probably the one who got completely crucified by everyone else. Like, posterboy for getting shat on by an entire community. Luckily though it was short-lived and he's back modding (he got early access and ported Frostfall over to SSE).

MariusLecter posted:The voice actors are really messing with Arthmoors artistic vision for FO4 huh? It's so loving ironic, considering his infamy for adding in voice-acted lines for Mirmulnir into the USKP

FronzelNeekburm posted:The issue was that the modding community had been working pro bono for years, so it was no big deal if someone said, "Hey, can I include your sword/armor/titcrabs in my collection?" But when those people turned around and started charging for things they hadn't developed, and especially since the Steam system didn't have any way to divvy up the profits, "modding resource" creators suddenly started questioning whether that made sense. Pretty much this. The community had a pretty good thing going on wrt/using other people's assets until Valve and Bethesda came along and threw a gigantic poo poo-covered wrench into it.
