Jagged Jim posted:He also absolutely hated Hohmann Transfer Orbits for some reason, (For those that don't know, Hohmann Transfer Orbits are one the most efficient methods of traveling between bodies, and KSP values efficiency) so he nerfed Solar Power into oblivion and made all of the batteries ridiculously heavy to try and force you into making inefficient direct transfers instead. That reminds me of the Space Engineers modder that got obsessive about Solar Panels being far too efficient because the game was clearly set in Earth's asteroid belt (pre-Planets) and thus wouldn't get as much power as being on Earth due to the increased distance from the Sun. He maintained this argument even when a Solar Panel Engineer got in on the discussion and told him how incorrect he was due to rising efficiency in current designs and the like. Solar Panels in the game already produce mere kW of power, barely enough to keep the lights and a few thrusters on, so it's not like they're all too useful to start with.

I mean, for a alphabet-soup-body-replacer armor it actually provides protection for the entire body and seems like it would be somewhat practical to wear. Honestly the worst you can really point out about it is maybe the boobplating, and even then it's not obscene GG-cups or something, I guess. I wouldn't quite call it practical, but it certainly at least looks like ceremonial armor.

The Cheshire Cat posted:See I feel like it would be more interesting to tell a story based on a society society where resurrection IS fairly commonplace, and what the consequences of that would be, rather than trying to have it mirror historical settings more or less exactly. I think in standard D&D rules there are a few exceptions for even the most powerful resurrection spells (I think the main one is that the person has to WANT to be resurrected for it to work - although I also think death by old age also can't be reversed by resurrection? That one might be a bit fuzzy because of all the various ways people can extend their natural lifespan in that setting so what constitutes "old age" is vague), so it's not like nobody would die ever, but it also means that you can't just kill someone to make your problems go away. It also kind of suggests that if you do kill someone accidentally or in the heat of the moment, the punishment would be a lot less severe than real life. It's sci-fi rather than fantasy, but go read Altered Carbon.

Scoss posted:The proof is in the pudding obviously and Bethesda has every opportunity to screw up the execution here, but taken at their word this program honestly seems completely fine to me. This assumes the average mod-maker has a project coder's ethos and not a "done when I feel like it" attitude. Expecting developer-quality milestones and QT is not going to fly when the vast majority of them can't stand any form of criticism and will only release their pretty code baby when they think it's ready. Those stupid developers have NO PLACE expecting an a[u/r]tist to meet project goals and maintain contact with Bethesda to update them on content development pipelines.

Scoss posted:I'm not sure I see the problem, I mean that seems like a situation that solves itself through the mechanisms of the program. The submission and approval process is the first gate that will filter out anyone who can't put together a coherent and organized project proposal that meets whatever criteria Bethesda is going to lay out for them. If a non-serious developer does manage to get through the approval process, I can't imagine it will take long for their contract to be ended once they start missing milestones and fail to correspond with Bethesda. What's terrible about that? Every modder thinks they're Dev-quality creators and rais a massive stink about not being part of the 'elite 1%' people who are actually capable of being professionals working with the studio.

Scoss posted:If most modders aren't capable of meeting the professional standards to be a part of the creation club then it sounds to me like Bethesda built it properly. Again, the entire system seems designed to filter out flakes and extend a hand to the people that want to be professional developers. How is that bad? It's not, it's a sensible setup. The problem is it's interacting directly with people who are not sensible, or sane, and will get pretty drat vocal about it .
