There was a Watch_Dogs2 ad I saw on YouTube and it was a bunch of short clips of nothing much happening (running, jumping, being shot at) and it ended with the line "Hack Everything". But there was no hacking being done in the trailer. I think it starts with the new protagonist bragging about all his superpowers but that he just uses a phone, but in none of the gameplay footage did they show that part of the game. If I didn't know better, I'd think it was a cover based shooter and have no idea what makes it special.

I never played WD1 and I'm not going to play WD2. It doesn't move the needle for me at all.

My friend wouldn't shut up about how the Walking Dead: Michonne totally redeems Season 2 because it's so much better, and so far it's literally the same loving story.

Michonne's story is interesting only because it gives you a character who is given options to be brutal. TWDs2 was flawed for a lot of reasons, a chief among them was making the playable character one with a lot of restrictions and not a lot of agency. They're all virtual misery porn simulators, but at least when you are playing as Michonne you can pay the misery back some.

On a whole, the Telltale Walking Dead series hit it's high note on S01E02, with a very special mention going to the end of S01. Mostly it's just "the illusion of safety is gain, the illusion of safety is lost, man is the real monster, repeat".

I really want a montage of all the surprised faces in Telltale games, because they look identical and always crack me up. That wide-eyed look that a character makes roughly every third action you take, or they do in response to a dialogue choice while a "x will remember this" message pops up at the top of the screen. BUT NO, it does not exist and looking for it only yields "Youtubers react to Telltale" for pages and pages.

Where's that video of a Final Fantasy VII Remake trailer reaction where the guy starts tearing up while watching it and once it's over is like "I'm gonna be honest, I've never played Final Fantasy VII." It's a real :pusheen: moment.

I don't think that's going to be the case. We don't know how the episodes will be broken down, whether it'll be something like three big chunks or a bunch of smaller pieces with a quicker turnover. We don't know if stats will carry over or if every chapter will be treated as a standalone experience. I think the best way to handle it would make the subsequent episodes DLC to a main game that grows over time. Part one gets you to Kalm, but the Midgar Zolom can't be passed until the chocobo farm opens in part two. Once you pay for part two it just tacks it onto the game so there's no selecting a chapter from a menu.

What I imagine it will be is Dirge of Cerberus 2

I spent the weekend finishing up Crimes and Punishments with my wife and playing lots of Legends of Grimrock. I'm a big fan of first person dungeon crawlers and it feels real good to figure out a puzzle or floor. I caved and looked at a guide for a few things where I knew I was in the right vicinity but couldn't quite figure it out, and I know there are areas that I'm missing out on but I don't want to be a slave to the guide. Hurts to walk into a floor, have the only feature be a note that says "The Temple is Sealed to You" and have to continue on never knowing what you're missing. One gripe is that combat is becoming too repetitive and encounters are all handled with a similar tactics. And since the crystals that revive characters are one a floor and rarely convenient to return to, any character death is a steep punishment (not that I haven't made long walks back to the crystal with one character hanging onto life). It's cool that my characters are becoming better equipped, but when the prison floor is writhing with mindflayers it starts tipping the scale away from fun.

I played through the Colorado mission in Hitman for the first time last night. I was very worried about it being extra difficult based on what I was hearing on my podcasts, but once I got the first disguise there were only a few trouble spots. I did all the assassinations with accidents and I kept following the anti-terrorism expert around because she was my last kill and I had wasted my lethal poison earlier in the mission. Took me way too long to see the chandelier that she stands under, but it was funny to hear her talk up the bombmaker and drop all these hints about how to kill him, when he died in a gruesome battering ram incident within minutes of me getting my bearings.

As with most of the stages, I'm interested in seeing how to orchestrate some of the more entertaining sounding deaths (pushed into a slurry pit, for example), but I don't think I'll be replaying it like I did with Paris.

Then I wrapped up Titanfall 2's campaign and started playing multiplayer. hoo boy, that's a fun game. I didn't know how to rodeo Titans; I thought it was "Hold Square while near their feet" so I got crushed a few time. Looking over the thread it looks like I need to land on the top half of a Titan to ride it. Now to figure out how the experience system works.

Humm, I don't know how but 16-Bit Bar+Arcade seems to be doing very very well.. They now have 3 locations with a ton of arcade games that always seem to be working and the one in Cincy is in a spot that I know the rent cannot be cheap and the one in Columbus has been there at least 3 years?

Yeah we had some people with us that don't really like arcade games that ended up loving Killer Queen! I was actually at this place called Abari Game Bar in Charlotte NC.. The place was like an abandoned warehouse with not alot of games and was super run down.. Totally different vibe than 16 bit.

Hullo possible Columbus friend. I've seen Killer Queen a few times; they have a set at Arcade Super Awesome (and I'm pretty sure I saw it at Ground Kontrol in Portland) and their league nights seem like a lot of hectic fun. The developers of KQ come by for a tournament there and signed some stuff. I've never played, but ten players for a $1 a game is a good way to market a new arcade game to the barcade group. Most of the places I seek out have pinball tables and those are almost never on free play. I look at a place like Level One Bar+Arcade (might also have Killer Queen) and wonder how they make enough for rent, staffing, and maintenance on dozens of arcade cabinets and a dozen pins with just (slightly over-priced) drinks. Even worse, I go to Arcade Super Awesome regularly and I only buy the drinks on special for $3 or less. It's my favorite hangout but I'll be damned if I'll pay $6 a beer when a cheaper craft is available.

I can't really think of another new arcade game more recent than Killer Queen though, and it bucks most of the trends the arcade industry held onto for decades. MAME cabinets, I guess, but that's it and I wouldn't count it.

I dunno why a combination of a small cover (to catch people just coming in for games) and drinks couldn't keep a barcade afloat. I've never worked at a bar, but the profit margins on liquor and wine must be incredible.

I've been to a few barcades and I don't think I've ever been charged a cover. I'm not sure what the reasoning is, but you'd have to have a great collection of games for me to pay even a marginal cover and not just go to another location (or pay the cover for the night and never return).

Some places will have bigger machines like DDR or likewise that costs money to play, but how many people who have to play before you'd offset the cost of even one repair call for a weak foot button, not to mention the initial cost of purchasing the machine and transporting it. One thing I'd say is in the favor of barcades is they always seem packed. It must hit all the right buttons for an era of people who grew up around arcades who are now old enough to drink and so soaked in entertainment culture that they'd rather play something with friends than sit at a table and talk.

I'm fine with paying for pinball because 1) it's a mechanical game with tons of moving parts that can be expensive to maintain and 2) most tables reward skill with replays and extra balls, and then you've got a 1 in 10 shot at a free game at the end with newer tables. With a little luck I can nearly double the value of my coin drop, something that's much harder on an arcade cabinet designed to eat money.

I like barcades that remind me of the arcades I used to go to: dark walls, tinted windows, and lots of mirrored surfaces. If it's cramped and you can't hear anything over the deafening crush of sound effects, even better.

It has some tables not available on The Pinball Arcade, but the tables are all dark with no way of controlling the lighting, the flippers on some tables (notably the mini playfield in AD/DC) seem shorter than they should be, and outside of bundles table are $10 a pop. There's a lot of room for improvement before you bite that bullet.

At its heart Twin Peaks is a story of a small town and its eccentric people with the murder being just an excuse for their crazy to come out. That's why I really like this series, the crime mystery is just the background but it does give those often very ordinary tales the much needed edge.

I found some joy in almost every side story. It's because I learned to like that town as a whole and just coming back to the series' atmosphere with its many little moments was very enjoyable. It helped that I had the feeling that the authors respected their characters a lot even if they couldn't keep up with the high quality bar they set for themselves the entire time.

FWwM is a bit of a mess, however it's still a must-watch if you're a big time Twin Peaks fan. Some of the moments that I associate with Twin Peaks the most come from FWwM even though the series was so much better. I guess they managed to encapsulate the setting's atmosphere in a few succinct scenes.

I'm nearing the half-way point of season 2, then my TV buddy and I will debate whether or not to watch Fire, Walk With Me. The trailer didn't sell us, but I'd like to add the whole of the Twin Peaks work to my bag of knowledge before season 3 or the miniseries or whatever they have planned comes out.
