Just realized that CW "Legends of Tomorrow" actually has TWO former companions to the Doctor in it. Arthur Darvill everyone knows about, but 7's former companion Pvt Sally Morgan, played by Amy Pemberton, voices the ship's computer, Gideon.

Good news. It appears Power of the Daleks isn't going to be a Barnes & Noble exclusive. It's available on Amazon for pre-order. Love that cover too!

I remember my much younger self first listening to Kromon and being super creeped out by Charlie turning into a giant worm monster that I basically never wanted to listen to it again.

It was written by Phillip Martin, who wrote Vengeance on Varos, which, if you recall, had Peri turning into a bird monster.

A couple of years ago he wrote the Six Doctor audio Antidote to Oblivion. Care to guess what befalls Flip in this story?

So BF announced that for 2018, the series of Tom and Leela, instead of being released at the rate of 1 a month, are going to be released as 2 boxsets. Can't help to wonder if it's just a cost cutting measure, or if someone else is going to take up the January to August slot.

The way it used to work is Terrance Dicks would ring up Robert Holmes in a panic saying,"Where's my script? Where's the script? Gimme the script? :derp:" and Holmes would drolly reply,"In a moment, dear boy :smug:", hang up, say boo to a passing child and then smoke a pipe for an hour or two before rolling his chair over to the typewriter and cheerfully bang out something brilliant in half an hour.

Then Robert Holmes became the Script Editor and drolly smoked a pipe while reading other people's scripts and tutting gently while making corrections, occasionally saying boo to a passing child :allears:

Ms Boods will agree that this is an 100% accurate assessment of the situation.

The best story is about the novelization to The Time Warrior. Holmes had agreed to write it, but kept getting sidetracked. Terrence kept bugging him about needing it, until one day, a manuscript showed up. In it was the prologue, followed by a note that read "You finish it."

While BF have yet to announce any further War Doctor sets, they did announce they're doing adaptations of six H.G. Wells stories, the first being "The Invisible Man" starring John Hurt. So hopefully this bodes well for him coming back to do more Who stories.

Not the US release. At least the DVD version. Don't know about the Blu-Ray.

Differences are:

Dalek instead of the Troughton picture at the top.
The McGann logo is white instead of blue, and is stacked instead of in a single line
The graphic of the title is the same on the spine as it is on the cover.

I really don't want them to take away the clunky suit look.

For that matter, have they ever said why Tennant played him with an English accent? Not that I minded because it made his audio book readings awesome. (The Doctor was separete voice from the narrator.) But McCoy and Capeldi got to be Scottish.

It was Tennant's decision.

Oh I know it's the format, I just don't think they'd waste a "Jago and Litefoot meet the X Doctor" story on a Short Trip or Companion Chronicle if there was a shot at getting a Doctor actor.

They're doing Short Trips set during the Time War where Eight encounters Nyssa and Susan. They could've done those as full cast, but didn't. Briggs set the only hold up is Tennant is adamant about recording with everyone together. He even said recently that he visited Tennant while he was filming Broadchurch Series 3 to talk about it. Tennant doesn't want to record separately, so it's about getting the schedules with him and, presumably, Catherine Tate, to sync up. BF said it took over a year to line up everything just to record the first set.

I feel like Russell's voice sounds closer to Hartnell's but Purves is better at nailing the mannerisms, so both are great for different reasons imo

What's awesome about Russell's and Purves' portrayals of the First Doctor is they're both playing the Doctor how he interacted with their characters. The First Doctor was a little more sharp tempered with Ian, and far more relaxed with Steven, because Steven was always willing to defer to the Doctor, whereas Ian wasn't willing to put up with the Doctor's poo poo.
