There's no January daily drawing thread?

I'm trying to do a daily drawing/painting/sketch/something every day. Not sure how long I'll last, and I'm already behind. But I should be able to catch up during the weekend.

If you need a pro-quality digital version of a real piece, you're probably taking a picture of it with a pro setup.

This is what I was going to suggest. Try taking a photo, preferably with a DSLR in different light settings. Probably avoid using the flash if possible which may flatten your image.

Aaahhh, the rare Sad Flopover Tits, perfectly captured! This isn't a pisstake, you got the form down pat. She doesn't look too impressed by the drawers around her.

Am I drawing cats again? Yeah I am.

Haha, thank you! Yes ,she didn't seem like the happiest person, but she was actually an excellent model.

I've been noodling with this unsuccessful portrait of someone for the past few days. I guess it's successful in the graphic and stylized look I was trying to achieve, something a bit like Patrick Nagel, now that I look at it. But I couldn't get it to look enough like her, so ehh. I made her look too chubby or something. But I suppose it was a good experiment.

You should use a brush with varying line width, or at least use different stroke sizes on the different parts of her face. Also that purple and green are really saturated, like they look like mspaint swatches

The oversaturation and flat lines was all intentional, but you're right. It's not working. I desaturated the green background to help pop her out a bit, and added a bit of think and thin to some of the lines in her face, and I think it does improve it some, while still keeping the look I was going for.

Might try to clean this up tonight if I have time. Or I might waste it playing RE7 or Gravity Rush 2. Decisions, decisions.

New year, new sketchbook. Been drawing in it most days, which is good because I was really slacking. When I need to loosen up, I draw my shoes:

I love your shoe sketchbook! Reminds me of doing contour drawing exercises, which I always enjoyed.

I really need to clean some of these up. I think they'd look a lot better afterwords. But this one took maybe about 45 minutes before I had to go to work, so no luck. Maybe I'll revisit them later on.

Thanks! It was pretty fun to draw. These vehicles are a struggle for me, which is why I'm doing them. I'm not sure of the time for this one, but it was definitely over an hour. I'd like to go back and clean these up at some point.

Two 30m studies:

Horizontal / lying down figures are the hardest for me, because it's easy to get the proportions wrong. But I think I'm getting better, and this one actually turned out pretty well.

Don't care for this one too much because of the odd forced perspective and position. I guess it came out okay considering, and there are some parts that I think turned out alright.

This was probably around 1.5 hours. Definitely building some new muscles with these mechanical drawings, which are out of my comfort zone.
