Had a great Gargoyle EE^A with a robe of the archmagi end up getting hosed by eating the purple and getting shoutitis and berserkitis. Couldn't find any cMuts before Lair, got swarmed and killed.

Probably could have survived by stair dancing more.

Double-posting to say that I just shafted three floors, (got knocked to 5 HP by an ogre), fell to an ossuary level. Rested, found it at rapid hissing. Walk through the door-

Edit Get surrounded by a troll and a player ghost, shaft again. Three more floors.

Shouted "oh god dammit" loud enough that my roomie asked me to quiet down.

They'll die to the poison unless they have a source of regen and/or heal before the poison kills them.

So, for the most part, it's a death sentence for anything short of a troll or hydra. (Which you should just keep thwacking at anyways.)

Example You have 10 HP max. You currently have 9 HP, but your entire bar is yellow. You are currently as sick as possible. If you gain HP, you will go back up to 10 and, barring any more damage, survive. You're still marked with 9 points of poison, it's just not enough to kill you any more.

Actually having fun with a DSCK who found the Lajatang of Order early on (which must be the ultimate gently caress you to Zin), but I keep missing Xom's antics in the general spam.

As an added bonus, it will also force a -more- upon seeing Xom altars.

Edit Also, I stand by my assertion that getting hit by calcifying dust should force a more. I added it to my RC, but without it, the game actively punishes new players who don't know any better for using Tab.

Seriously debating on the relative merits of a NaWi^D stabber, and a NaWi^C stabber, especially if I go hybrid. On one hand, Dith gives me an umbra, and shadow step, and I can still use haste. On the other hand, Chei gives me absolutely absurd stat boosts, and slouch. I would get my EV into the stratosphere, and I'd be able to wear much heavier armors mostly without penalty.

You're at mindelay for both, so definitely the broad axe, though you can keep the war axe on hand for if you need to fight anything with a cold vuln.

I mean, unless the -4 Str hits you really hard in the EV department, then I could see wanting to avoid that. But on the other hand, RF++ and SInv might be worth it, if you don't have those from other sources.

Is there anything more delightful then being chased by bees and then realizing "oh wait, I have like seven lig potions"? Because Termof the third is making fantastic use of lig potions. (Which is delightful from a thematic perspective.)

How do you do Shoals as someone who breathes and doesn't fly? Now that I can't stand on doors to not get killed by water nymphs my success rate with non-Gargoyles is unpleasantly low (though I haven't really played any significant amount since the last tournament, which isn't helping). What are the tricks? There's got to be something I'm missing, because I can't believe that one of the four Lair areas is just this much harder than Swamp/Spider/Snake.

Bring at least one of the following, but as many as you can manage:
- Absurd MR
- Lots of potions of flight and/or an evocable source of flight with a decent Evocations
- A good shield and/or amulet of Reflection
- If you're really ballsy, a chokepoint and lig potions
- Necromutation(??? maybe, I've never played full Necro)
- Lots of scrolls of fog and a hella good stairdance game
- Worship Fedhas and \[T]/ Praise the Sun(light)!

What're the breakpoints for weapon-independent skills?

Like, I know with most weapon skills, the breakpoints are '1.0' and 'mindelay', and Spellcasting's is "Spel * Int >= multiple of 50" for spell hunger, etc.

What about fighting, or dodging, or stealth? Do I really need to break out the calculator every time, or are there other reasonable rule of thumb options? Armor = current armor's encumbrance rating?
