I've so many screenshots I could keep this thread going by myself until the end of this website.

I'll add to that, at least with the magic of modding you can occasionally squeeze some decent-looking screenshots even out of that game.

What's the maximum non-thumbnailed image size we can use anyway? I tend to resize mine to 1440x810 which doesn't break tables but I assume they're still too big to post as-is.

Fun little-known fact in case people didn't feel bad enough about that particular boss battle: If you do the DLC and save young Sif from the phantoms surrounding it in the past first, you get a different pre-fight cutscene where it recognizes you.

It's also full of blondes because the budget localization goofed up and replaced the default black hair hair texture they used for most of the NPCs.

Wasn't that done on purpose as a rather crude method to make the characters look less Japanese since the localization changed the location from Japan to (I think) the US?

Myst was literally designed to be a game which the whole family could enjoy, even people who had never played video games before. Of course, standards were a little different back then.

It did succeed it at by all accounts though, it held the highest PC game sales numbers in history for almost a decade until The Sims and played a big part in popularizing cd-roms as a video game format. It's definitely up there amongst the most influential and popular games of all time.

My favorite Open Xcom story is someone exiting the skyranger, spotted by a sectoid with a blaster launcher roughly 5 feet away, and instantly blown up. But not only did they and several other soldiers explode during literally the first action on the map, the explosion caused every piece of equipment inside the skyranger to be destroyed. So an entire armory's worth of gear was vaporized because the RNG decided to spawn a sectoid with explosives at the start of the map.

New Xcom can't even compare to that cruelty.

Makes for much better stories and memories at least.

Most of these are situations that wouldn't benefit from it, but if this is on PC do you know about the keyboard shortcut to hide the UI when you're wandering around (Alt+U)? It was really put in there for screenshots but I can't remember if we even surface it in the released game.

Hmm, doesn't sound familiar. I've played with the minimap off anyway so there isn't any UI to hide while wandering in the first place, except I guess the occasional marker and the crosshair thing in first person view. Hiding it in combat for gif/screenshot purposes would be neat though, if that shortcut doesn't work then I can probably grab a mod from somewhere. Thanks for mentioning it.
