Ball was loving terrible in that first half. Lack of speed is really noticeable. Holiday came in and was able to immediately split Oregon's half press for easy looks.

e: now it's the second half and he's getting put in jail by lovely white backup PGs. really don't see it with this guy. Looked downright bad in the two games I've seen him play against teams with equal or greater athleticism.

e2: pretty great at the end here though!

pleased that Ball showed what he could do at the end there. Wedge rebounding with him is going to be very valuable. Pretty unreal in transition and with outlets. He needs his shot to translate at 35-40%+ at the next level to be a good half court player.

I feel like CBS mock drafts should be saved for posterity, because the dude really tries to do his own thing and everyone makes fun of him (possibly for good reason) but I never remember to go back and see who's more accurate, him or the consensus. It's also in February which is when it's probably okay to make a bad mock but I don't have much better to do this exact second but mock his.

Somebody earlier brought up Josh Jackson's shooting being a red flag because his fair 37% from 3 doesnt match up with his bad 55% from the line...but isn't it a huge positive that he's gotten so much better from deep as the season has gone on?
With such a small sample size, the idea is that natural variance in the numbers can distract from his underlying mechanics

in my way too early, hyperbolic opinion Fultz is Dwyane Wade with better passing and three point range. I think he could be a top 20 player all time.

He is also a lot less polished and a bit worse/lazy defensively.

A good article about Ball and ball.

I'd never really considered that using a different brand of basketball could affect shooting with NBA players, but it's certainly something I've experienced. The article points out that actual great shooters but does make a difference with others.

I wouldn't put too much stock in it, but Ball was pretty well exposed by UK and Fox tonight. Finally someone defended him at the body from NBA range and in and his shot missed short every single time in the second half. I've hated him in Ball pressure against NBA athletes all season.
