Hi. Your head's on fire.

Bond cleans up the last of Drake's plot and crew in the only way he knows how: horrible burning death.

That of course leaves the multiplayer. I unfortunately don't have anyone to play it with me IRL, but the game does allow for bots and a whole lot of mayhem regardless. As such, I'll be streaming the multiplayer on my hitbox today at 3PM Pacific (roughly 3 and 1/2 hours from now), with viewers suggesting and voting on what characters, rules, and weapons I use.

Might also try streaming a bit of the PC version if I can get it running.

Thanks for the great LP. The Countdown level seemed very Goldeneye-ish, maybe it was the doors and missile silos.

Did you add the Terminator reference to the red sight or was it in the game?

The text? That's in the game, and I think it does it every time you use the scope.

I'm starting to think that Alura was originally going to be Zoe, but something changed during development, like voice actress availability or something similar.

Also, I can't help but chuckle at how the AIMS-20 takes a lot of design cues from Perfect Dark's Super Dragon assault rifle/grenade launcher combo weapon. Like, the only noticeable differences are the added infrared scope for the AIMS-20 and not having to turn the gun sideways to use the grenade launcher mode.

It's actually a real gun, the XM29 OICW. It never panned out because it was too hilariously large, but the grenade launcher got made (it's the same size as the full weapon system) as the XM25 and is or was in limited use.

The S&T K11 is also basically the exact same thing and South Korea has 900 in service.

Thus concludes Nightfire, folks. Sadly my attempts to get the PC version to work failed, but at least we had this legit good one to enjoy! No promises, but I'm going to replay From Russia With Love and see if that one's at all worth LPing. If so, we might not need to wait five years for my next 007 LP.
In the meantime, thank you all for watching! We'll see you with a big fat mess of new LPs in 2017.

Whatscha holdup, Tron? If you don't hurry up there's not gonna be any pizza left!
Were you going to do the remaining platinum levels?

pretty fucking embarrassing to watch
I spent hundreds of hours playing multiplayer Nightfire; probably half of those were on Skyrail and I can't really remember why we didn't play the other levels that much - I'm pretty sure that its because its probably the best level since it has a mixture of everything. loving around with the Remote Control rockets was always really fun though...

Great LP of a good but frustrating game. I remember "Everything or Nothing" being even more unforgiving and obscenely difficult at times. I'm kind of surprised nobody ever brings up the "From Russia With Love" video game, which had Sean Connery himself playing Bond, and this was after he retired from film work! It was also third-person weirdly enough.

you do know that the mini helicopters have missiles and the tanks have a cannon right?

I could never complete that last one, so it's good to finally see exactly how it happened. I swear the missiles went up way slower in your version than the one I played as a kid, I always had trouble getting to them quickly enough.

How many of the Bond games featured Daniel Craig? There was Bloodstone and the Goldeneye remake, but I think there were more.

Looking forward to the next LP, whatever it may be!

There was the Quantum of Solace video game, which was 75% Casino Royale material and barely 25% of material from Quantum itself. Not sure if Spectre and Skyfall got their own game adaptations, though.

There was legends. Which was basically 5 bond movies crammed into one with creepy Craig face on them all. Also it was so bad the license got yanked.

Oh god, Legends was atrocious. There's a great LP of it at the Archives.

Really hope you guys do FRWL. That was a really fun game and worth it for Sean Connery's voice now coming from how he looked in 1963. It's so weird but a fun game all in all.

Given that "Quantum of Solace" the movie was filmed during a writer's strike, that's not too shocking.

Yeah, it was also because Treyarch were working on a Casino Royale game for a while, but some various multitide of reasons meant they just shrugged and put all their stuff into the Quantum game to flesh it out.

I'm definitely in for FRWL. It's a crazy recreation of the movie that expands just about every scene into a wild action scene with anachronistic technology, and has Sean Connery coming out of retirement to voice Bond.

My favorite showing of the OICW was when it was all hyped up in Raven's Soldier of Fortune 2, and even in power fantasy video game land it was too bulky and complicated for most people's taste. Meaning, you would always take the cheaper, smaller and older guns instead. When you can't even make your overbudgeted supergun look good in fiction, it's generally a bad sign.

Would you like to play a game?

I played and beat this game when it came out originally but I had no recollection that it was this short.

It's still weird to me that they would license his likeness but couldn't bother to get him to show up and record the handful of lines Bond has in this game.

Considering how phoned-in Brosnan's performance is in "Everything or Nothing", I doubt having him on hand for "Nightfire" would have improved things.

If I recall from a previous EoN thread with a developer goon posting in it, Brosnan wasn't even phoning it in. Dude was pretty rude, refused to do better takes because he was pissy about having to do VO work due to his contract or something.

But I may have the details wrong, so don't quote me on this.

Nah! A little chocolate will do

yeah I think the story was that he still had one more "work" in his contract and I guess MGM (or whoever owns the IP) didn't want to do another movie with Brosnan so they said "here, you're gonna finish your James Bond career in a video game"

Or something like that

I might be biased, but EoN seems much easier to me. Also much better. There are a few moments that are tough, but the shooting system makes it easy to get headshots, and the melee combat is actually, like, good. It gets tough by the end, and getting all of the Bond Moments was tricky, but I only needed to play on 00 Agent for the last three or four levels to get gold medals, and the rest of the game is fine on Agent.

After someone brought up From Russia With Love in my thread I did track down a copy and give it a go, but so many of the mechanics were changed in little ways from EoN, and not for the better, that I couldn't be comfortable with it. If Thorn doesn't give it a whirl, I might take another swing and see if I enjoy it enough to play through the whole thing.

I still have some nostalgia for FRWL, because I got it for Christmas in 2005 when it was brand new. I always associate the game with the memory of playing it in a cold house, right next to the Christmas tree, late at night when my mom was asleep and I had the TV all to myself.
