:siren:EMS and GMS are now combined into one service! When you open the game client, you are given the choice between the Europe and North American server selection screens, and any user can choose either one. That means people who live in regions previously covered by EMS can now choose to play on GMS servers without jumping through any weird hoops!:siren:

:vince: Official 5th Job preview video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7tbmt05F30 :vince:

Yes, that's right! Almost a decade after 4th job was released in GMS, 5th job is finally real! See the video above for short previews of each class' skill, or refer to the 3rd post below for more information.

If you're interested in playing with goons, join us on the Reboot server under the North American cluster! On Reboot you can buy almost any helpful cash item with only Mesos. The only gameplay item that isn't available for Meso is a pet, but they are often given out in events, and failing that, are only 5 bucks in the Cash Shop, which is negligible compared to the amount you'd probably need to spend to get ahead on a non-Reboot server. You'd want a pet on that server too, anyways! For more information on Reboot server, refer to the 2nd post below.

MapleStory is a free-to-play, 2D, sidescrolling MMORPG developed by Nexon and published locally in North America and Europe by Nexon America. Other games in Nexon's repertoire include Vindictus and Mabinogi.

Most players of MapleStory fondly remember the game as a stereotypical grindfest. It used to take weeks to get to level 30 (second job) and months, if not years, to reach a level in the triple digits. In 2010, however, the entire game changed drastically. Here are a few of the things that happened:

  • Lower experience curve - As of the V update, experience required to reach level 200 has been reduced by approximately 30%. Level 200 is when you get access to 5th job, so start grinding!
  • Map redesign - They have completely redesigned all the continents so that you aren't stuck wandering from map to map looking for your particular monster or quest. They have also made town maps much smaller and easier to navigate.
  • New menus/interface - 1366x768 resolution support, new UI.
  • Now way less pay2win! Reboot is a server on which you can buy cubes, and many other cash items, with Mesos! See the second post below for more details.

Every content patch since the monumental one (named "Big Bang") has only continued to change and improve the game, such as revamping the crafting system, adding new classes, revamping older ones, and much more. If you have not played MapleStory since before Big Bang -- or never played at all -- now is a great time to join us, punch the poo poo out of some small pixelated animals, and have fun with goons!

Download it through the Nexon Launcher, which can be found on Nexon's website.
:steam:Or, heres the new Steam version! US-only right now, but its got Steam integration which is cool. Might be available in Europe now, but I don't live in Europe so IDK!!! Someone go check and report back!!! http://store.steampowered.com/app/216150/

Also, GoonSquad is full of KSers and hackers.

To apply, search for GoonSquad in the guild menu and then apply to the highest level one.

Your friends can join too! As long as they are intelligent, sociable, and no goons object.

MapleStory is also notorious for its microtransactions, processed through the Cash Shop and NX currency. On Reboot server, however, pets are the only gameplay-affecting item that has to be (or can be) purchased with NX. See the second post below for more info on Reboot Server.

The original set of classes, plus Pirates which were added later. As of the RED update, each explorer class has a Specialized Skill which further enhances their gameplay. In addition, RED introduced the Free Advancement System, which allows 4th job explorers within a job to switch to other 4th job explorer classes within their job. For instance, a Dual Blade could use the Free Advancement system to become a Night Lord. This system can only be used once per day, and it costs a variable amount of Mesos depending on your character's level.

Highest HP, highest defense. Uses melee weapons.

Fighter/Crusader/Hero
This class uses 1H/2H swords or axes. Their specialized skill is Combo Attack, which makes them gain Combo Counters when they attack enemies. They can utilize these Combo Counters to use powerful skills or enhance their damage.

Page/White Knight/Paladin
Paladins use 1H/2H swords or blunt weapons. Paladins have the ability to use elemental attacks, which ties into their specialized skill Elemental Charge. Elemental Charge gives a Paladin improved tanking, damage, healing, and status resist when they use their elemental attacks.

Spearman/Berserker/Dark Knight
Dark Knights use spears or polearms. Their specialized skill allows them to summon a Beholder (not a D&D one, sorry) to heal and buff themselves. They also have a very useful party buff that increases max hp of party members by a large amount.

Medium HP, long ranged attackers.

Hunter/Ranger/Bowmaster
Bowmasters use bows (duh). Their specialized skill is Quiver Cartridge, which allows them imbue their arrows with special properties. Bowmasters attack very quickly. They also have one of the most important party buffs in the game, which raises critical chance and critical damage.

Crossbowman/Sniper/Marksman
Marksmen use crossbows. Their specialized skill is Distancing Sense, which increases either their damage or their critical chance depending on how far away they are from the monster they are attacking. They share a very important party buff with their bow-wielding counterparts.

Medium HP, incredibly high avoidability and mobility.

Assassin/Hermit/Night Lord
Uses claws and throwing stars. Their specialized skill is Mark of the Assassin, which gives every attack a chance to mark enemies. When activated with a second hit, the marks explode into stars which home into nearby enemies. Has a party buff that increases party member's speed and jump.

Bandit/Chief Bandit/Shadower
Uses daggers. Shads are excellent melee fighters, especially now that they have Shadow Partner post-BB (originally an NL-only skill). Their specialized skill is Growing Critical, which causes their critical strike chance to increase over time as well as when they attack. When it reaches 100%, it resets back to the base amount. They share the mobility boosting party buff with Night Lords.

Dual Blade
A Dual Blade is an Explorer thief that has strayed from the normal path. Like their name implies, they use two blades; a dagger and a katara. They are limited creation characters.

Low HP but highest MP, good AoE class. All use wands or staves.

Fire & Poison Wizard/Mage/Archmage
Fire and poison elemental attacks. F/Ps' specialized skill is Elemental Drain, which increases their damage for each damage-over-time effect on nearby enemies.

Ice & Lightning Wizard/Mage/Archmage
Ice and lightning elemental attacks. I/Ls' specialized skill is Freezing Effect, which causes monsters hit by their ice spells to accrue counters above their heads. An I/L's maximum critical damage is increased for each counter on a targeted enemy.

Cleric/Priest/Bishop
The support class with holy-based attacks. Everyone wants this class in their party because they provide the only experience-boosting party buff in the game. They also have a multitude of other useful buffs. Their specialized skill is Blessing Ensemble, which increases their damage for each party member buffed by them. They also gain bonus experience for each additional Cleric/Priest/Bishop in the party.

Came out about 3-4 years after the first 4, medium HP.

Gunslinger/Outlaw/Corsair – Corsairs use guns and bullets.Their specialized skill is Summon Crew, which allows them to summon an NPC ally to fight alongside them. In later job advancements, these allies can absorb status effects that would have affected the Corsair.

Brawler/Marauder/Buccaneer
Buccaneers use knuckles. Their specialized skill is Energy Charge, which causes them to gain energy while attacking enemies. When their energy meter is full, it will provide a power-up and slowly drain. While powered-up, some skill will use energy instead of MP and have increased effects.

Cannoneer
Cannoneers use cannons and monkeys. Firing unlimited cannon balls, they have a great range and are very mobile. They have a link skill that provides a small boost to every stat as well as HP and MP. Cannoneers also get bonus inventory slots, making them a great class to use as a mule or merchant. They are limited creation characters.

Jett is a space pirate class, exclusive to GMS. Jett plays very similar to a corsair, shooting guns, with elements of a few other classes thrown in (such as Mercedes). It is a very mobile class. Jett has a link skill that allows you to buff another character on your account at the same time as your Jett. The buff given varies in stat and numeric value. They are limited creation characters. Until we get one of the Jett revamps from JMS or TMS, Jett is a gimp class. Not the best choice.

---

All of the Cygnus Knight classes have been revamped in the last few years, so they now play very differently from other classes. They also cap at 250 now, the same as every other class.

Dawn Warrior
Dawn Warriors use 2-handed swords. This class is based around a "Sun and Moon" stance system. Very flashy, quite fun.

Thunder Breaker
Thunder Breakers use knuckles. This class can combo some of their attacks after one another with no delay, and doing so gives them buffs that allow them to deal more damage.

Wind Archer
Wind Archers use bows. They shoot lots of arrows.

Blaze Wizard
Blaze Wizards primary attack is called "Orbital Flame". It can be shot up, down, left, or right, and it will fly out and then return to you. They will hit enemies for a second time on the way back if they have not yet reached the cap of monsters hit per cast. You can have more on the map at once as you get to higher levels (2 in 2nd job, 3 in 3rd, 4 in 4th).

Night Walker
Night Walkers use claws. They are somewhat similar to Night Lord, but have a darkness theme (lots of bats!). Their bats function differently from a Night Lord's Mark of the Assassin.

Mihile
Mihiles use 1-handed swords. They get an active block move that they can use to ready their shield. If they time it right to block an attack, that attack's damage is negated, the Mihile becomes invulnerable for a brief period and gains a buff to their attack stat, and a shockwave is released from the Mihile's location. The buff stacks up to 5 times if you block consecutively, and the more stacks of the buff you have the wider the range and the stronger the power of the shockwave. At 5 stacks it's basically an ultimate on a 6 second cooldown, plus it makes you invulnerable. Be warned, though, that the more stacks of the block buff you have the tighter the timing for successfully blocking becomes. Maplestory is the Dark Souls of 2D Anime MMOs!

---

These classes have backstories explaining their origins as Heroes of the Maple World way back when the Black Mage was threatening to end the existence of all life. For whatever reason, they've managed to revive themselves into the current world today.

Mercedes
Mercedes is an elf who uses dual bowguns and unlimited magic arrows to attack. She is focused on mobility and crowd control. At later levels she can attack people with unicorns, and has great sustainability from a beginner. After level 70, you gain a link skill which grants a 10% experience bonus to another character on your account.
They are limited creation characters.

Aran
Aran is a warrior who wields a polearm and stacks up combo when they hit enemies with their skills. When they reach 1000 combo, they enter Adrenaline Mode for a short time during which their attacks become massively stronger and more visually impressive and they can fire off a Finishing Move.

Evan
Evan is a magician who casts spells in tandem with Mir, their dragon. Evan and Mir each have their own skills, and when Evan uses certain skills while Mir is using certain other skills, they combine and activate new, extremely powerful, combination skills.

Phantom
Phantom is a thief-based melee class with new weapons. Phantom uses a cane to attack and cards as its subequip. The Phantom class is most known for its ability to swipe skills from other characters (with restrictions). Only active skills can be swiped, and only Explorer classes can have their skills swiped. Phantom also has a self-resurrect skill, on top of being able to steal Bishops resurrect. They are limited creation characters.

Recommended skills to steal
First Job (4 max): Haste, Magic Guard, Magic Armor, Dark Sight
Second Job (4 max): Rage, Hyper Body
Third Job (3 max): :siren:Holy Symbol:siren:, Combo Attack, Dispel
Fourth Job (2 max): Sharp Eyes, Rapid Fire (only if Impeccable Memory is maxed), Cross Over Chains

Luminous
A mage that uses a combination of Light and Dark powers. In other versions you need to balance your use of both, but in GMS its dumbed down to using whatever you want. Has voice acting. They are limited creation characters.

Shade
A 6th hero whose existence was erased from history as the cost of the spell used to seal the Black Mage. Uses knuckles, and fights by channeling the guardian spirits of some weird animal people from another dimension.

---

Nova Classes
Nova classes are basically Dragon-people from another dimension. They have horrible voice acting and will occasionally yell the names of skills when they're used.

Kaiser
Kaiser uses two-handed swords, but attacks very quickly regardless. It has great range and HP, along with doing lots of damage, making it a good tanky class. Also has a transformation mode that charges up through attacking, and turns you into a larger, glowing, armoured dragon knight that does ridiculous damage. Good all around class. They are limited creation characters.

Angelic Burster
Everyones favourite anime pop idol! This is a pirate class that uses "Soul Shooters". Has a wide variety of skills and a "recharge" system that limits skill spamming. Female-only.They are limited creation characters.

---

Resistance

This group of classes originates from a steampunk-esque town obsessed with driving an evil organization called the Black Wings out of their area.

Mechanic
A pirate that rides around in a gigantic robot suit, uses guns with no bullets, and transforms into a tank to shoot gigantic lasers.

Battle Mage
A magician that uses fast-speed staves to do melee damage. Think of the old school “STR mage” build except in a legit class. They can be very strong, very flashy, and are often sought after in parties for their damage-boosting auras. Has a Grim Reaper theme.

Wild Hunter
A crossbowman that rides around on and attacks from a jaguar. They have some of the highest mobility in the game and can do solid damage with their fast attacks. They have the same party buff as Adventurer archers.

Blaster
The real Resistance Warrior class? They use Two-handed Arm Cannons to explode their enemies. Has a Boxer motif, and can animation cancel their skills into each other to attack really loving fast (prepare for carpal tunnel!). Really fun and stylish if you have the manual dexterity required to take advantage of their kit. To be honest, they play more similarly to a knuckle Pirate class (with their fist weapons and skill combos) than a Warrior class, but Mechanic already exists, so... Play Blaster if you love explosions more than life itself.

Demon Slayer
A very agile, but beefy character who relies on his health and “force” instead of mana. Force is replenished by the souls of dead monsters. He uses one handed axes and blunt weapons. His link skill at level 70 gives extra boss damage to another character. They are limited creation characters.

Demon Avenger
An alternate version of Demon Slayer. This class uses HP as its primary stat, and also as the resource for its skills. Continuous use of their skills will cause them to enter an overdrive of sorts, where their skills will cost more HP but do more damage. They are limited creation characters.

Xenon
Xenon is a thief/pirate hybrid with 3 mainstats: STR, DEX, and LUK. He gains bonuses for getting each stat to certain thresholds. Some of his skills have a function called Modal Shift; essentially, there are 3 versions of those skills that you can switch between at will. Xenon can also fire rockets and fly. Beep boop, I am a robot.

---

Sengoku classes
These are previously JMS-only classes, and as such are themed around Japan. Art style for the skills is also great, traditional Japanese style. Both start with what is essentially an ultimate skill.

Kanna
A shrine maiden with a fox spirit familiar. Mage class, uses Fans as a weapon. Has a skill that boosts the amount of monsters on the map at one time (as you can probably deduce, more monsters=more exp!). They are limited creation characters.

Hayato
A warrior class using Katanas. Fast attacks and good range. They are limited creation characters. Katanas may or may not be made of GENUINE HANZO STEEL

---

Miscellaneous Classes
These classes are one-and-done, so-to-speak.

Beast Tamer
A mage class that has 4 different skill trees instead of job advancements(well, not really trees. There aren't any branches, each one is just straight down). Uses Scepters (no, not the same weapon you get when you job advance as a Demon Slayer), and can switch between it's animal modes (the aforementioned skill trees) at will. The 4 different animals are Bear, Leopard, Bird, and Cat. You can only max 2 of the 4 skill trees, choose wisely. The bear has fire farts, and the cat has an exp boosting skill and some great party buffs. Basically only good for AFKing on ladders and giving your party sweet buffs, as it can't function at bosses.

Zero
A special warrior class that starts at level 100. Zero is trapped in an alternate dimension for story reasons until its quests are completed at level 180; don't worry, though, because the quests are great exp and a fun read. Has many convenient features, such as free weapons, and cubes for those weapons, virtually free mastery books, and easy profession leveling. Uses a unique resource called Time Force, and allows you to play two different characters at once with the Tag system. It's pretty cool.

Kinesis
Kinesis is a Cool Dude from the FriendStory world who gained psychokinetic powers after Friend world was exposed to Maple World. He wears hip clothing, is suave as gently caress, and has the class rep as his girlfriend. He has a chess motif. He can also drop trains on monsters! Kinesis is a mage class that uses PP (Psychic Points) as a resource instead of MP. PP is recharged when you hit monsters with some skills, and is expended when using other skills or when a Kinesis is hit with its Magic Guard equivalent turned on. Cool class with a fun story (it's better than it sounds)!

Reboot Server

The Reboot Server is a new addition to Maplestory. It has modified rules that affect how you upgrade your gear. The major points:
  • On Reboot, all characters start with 48 slots in each inventory tab, and all accounts start with 6 character slots. More of each can be purchased with Mesos you earn in-game.
  • On Reboot, there is No Trading! Additionally, equips cannot be transferred through your account storage. You have to find them yourself! To make acquiring items easier, only equips for the job you're currently playing will drop when you kill monsters.
  • On Reboot, cubes are not sold for NX! Instead you buy them with Mesos you earn (at enhanced rates!) by killing mobs and bosses or selling items and equipment that you don't need/can't use on Reboot.
  • Monsters in Reboot have higher HP, but give more experience when killed. They also drop way more Mesos!
  • Scrolls and bonus potential do not exist in Reboot! Instead your character naturally gains more power as it levels. You can still use the Star Force Enhancement system to upgrade your equips, and they will still have potential, but as mentioned above, cubes are sold for Mesos in Reboot. Spell traces can be sold to NPC stores for Mesos since they are not usable for scrolling.
  • Lots of useful Cash items can be bought with Mesos! To list a few, Cubes, Hyper Teleport Rocks, Inventory Slot (and Storage!) expansions, Extra Pendant Slot, and Safety Charms are all available for purchase entirely with Mesos on Reboot! Things not available for purchase with Mesos on Reboot: Pets, appearance-altering items.
  • In Reboot, all classes are available (except Zero)!
  • Be aware that you cannot transfer characters to and from Reboot during World Leap events, and other events may function differently in Reboot than they do in the classic servers, or may be unavailable completely.
  • Monster Life (Maple farmville) is not available in Reboot, if you care about it for some reason.

TL;DR
In Reboot, you can progress your character while spending no money! It might be helpful to buy a pet, though. Upgrading gear is less of a hassle, too! Come check it out! :)

5th job!!!

Okay so in the interest of finishing this OP up without a mountain of effort, here is a short summary of 5th job and a link that has wayyy more information if you care to look at it. First off, here's the link: https://orangemushroom.net/2016/07/14/kms-ver-1-2-259-maplestory-v-5th-job/ I love you Max, keep up the good work!

So, the summary: 5th job is NOT a traditional Maple job advancement. Instead of each class getting an array of new skills, and leveling them up with skill points they earn every level, you get the V Core Matrix instead (credits to Max for the image!):

You start with 4 slots at level 200, and you unlock one new one each 6 levels past 200. So you get a new one at 206, 212, 218, etc.!!! You fill those slots with V Cores. There are three types of V Cores: Skill Cores, Enhance Cores, and Special Cores.

Skill Cores give you a new skill, simple enough. There's currently one unique skill for each class (Paladin, Night Lord, etc.) and one unique skill for each job (Warrior, Magician, Pirate) that any class of that job can use. There are also a bunch of generic skills, like one that works like Evan's Dragon Blink, one that works like the Nova classes' grappling hook, a bind, and a copy of Hero's Will. You can also get any of the Decent skills that were previously unique to Unique/Legendary potential tiers as Skill Cores.

Enhance Cores cover 3 skills from the same class and give each of those skills a boost to their final damage according to the core's level. You can equip multiple Enhance cores for the same skills and the level of their boost stacks up to a cap. The amount the skill is boosted is different on a skill-by-skill basis, typically skills from earlier jobs get bigger boosts than skills from 4th job.

Special Cores each have a condition. When that condition is fulfilled, the core activates and gives you a buff for a short time. You can only equip one Special Core at a time.

In KMS, Skill Cores currently max at level 25, Enhance Cores also max at 25 but their effects can reach up to level 50 if you have duplicates, and Special Cores max at level 1. You level up Skill and Enhance Cores by fusing them with identical Cores. There is also Core crafting, but I'm not sure if we'll have access to it as soon as 5th job launches. It involves decomposing Cores and using the fragments to create new ones that you have some control over.

There you go, I already put more effort into this post then Nexon will probably put into their patch notes. Happy Mapling!!!!!!

BTW, you can get a free pet if you share all the pages on this microsite (including the page that hosts all other pages) in the next day or two. Link: http://maplestory.nexon.net/micro-site/v-update

Link to event details: http://maplestory.nexon.net/micro-site/v-update/17909/web-event-share-v-news-update-to-earn-free-prizes

You don't even need to actually share it, just click the share button and back out and it gives you points. I don't even have social media accounts and it still works! You could try it in a private browse too I'm sure.

Yay free stuff!

The only classes I would say are unplayable are Jett and Beast Tamer. Everything else is viable AFAIK. It's really easy to level now, you can get to 2nd job in an hour or two without much effort, and 3rd and 4th not much later usually. There's pretty decent gear dropped by high level mobs, it's good enough to make getting the 140 and below boss sets a waste of time. The typical end game gear requires you to defeat some pretty tough bosses, or at least leech off someone who can. Not sure how hard they'll be after 5th job, as it comes with some huge power boosts.

Hi I made some space in guild so you can apply! Search for GoonSquad as guild name or OfIceAndMen as leader. Merc's 5th job skills is super Shadow Partner, it's not guaranteed to proc but when it does you can get like +2-3x additional hits I think? Wind Archer gets to summon a tornado, dunno much about it. Wild Hunters get a buff to their jaguar, I saw someone on Reddit say it was bad but I Wouldn't Trust Reddit. They might be right though! Marksmen get True Sniping which is basically Neil the Sniper from DFO, and Bowmasters get a buff that makes their attacks cause arrows to rain down from the sky for a few seconds with a few second cd on the proc.

I don't think there are any other Archer classes, they are by far the least populous job.

Feb 16, 2012

Uh, as for fun classes (I hate Archer classes in Maple!!!) I like Mihile, Battle Mage, Dawn Warrior, Thunder Breaker, Night Walker and Lord, Shade, Aran, Blaster (which might not be able to be burned, but it's likely Nexon copy pasted the event notice and didn't edit out that part), Kinesis, Cannoneer has the best 5th job skill (It fires a Banzai Bill!), Buccaneers have reclaimed Transformation as their 5th job skill (:ssj:), uh... Don't play Jett or BT!!!

Silento

She's okay, her skills move her around a lot so she kinda combos and jumps around a bit. I'm not a fan, but again, I Hate Archers. I'm just classist, I guess...

Bone posted:

So I'm trying to decide which class to burn, and I've narrowed it down to the following criteria:

-Resistance, Hero, or Cygnus Knight group (for Cash Shop reasons :v:)
-Good for bossing
-Decent group utility
-Good mobility
-Fun/flashy

I'm not to familiar with a lot of the classes these days, does anything out there sound like it would work?

Resistance:
Mech - Kinda bad mobility? I like it but it feels a bit clunky
WH - I've never played one so I can't really say, but they get Sharp Eyes!
Blaster - Really fun and flashy and very mobile, dunno if you'll be able to burn it though. Again, it's likely Nexon hosed up the notes but can't say for certain!
Battle Mage - My favorite class! Has a grim reaper familiar that comes out and does a big scythe swing proc every few monster kills/boss hits. Gets a rainbow scythe version of the reaper as their normal attack while their 5th job version is on! Also their aura buffs are good in groups, but you can only have one affecting you at a time even if there are multiple BaMs in the party.
Demon Slayer - It's cool, their 5th job skills is especially flashy. Very mobile, no party utility tho I think?
Demon Avenger - Also cool, same mobility as Slayer, 5th job skill involves bleeding toxic blood on everything lol

Heroes:
Aran - Strong, very flashy, can fly across maps both vertical and horizontal if they use their momentum right.
Evan - Super strong, very unique playstyle, dunno much, never played one
Merc - I don't like Archers.
Luminous - Now has the KMS Light/Dark Gauge! I'm not a fan of their aesthetic and apparently their new teleport is kinda clunky. Oh well!
Phantom - Not particularly mobile I think? Can use any Explorer 1st-4th job party buff, including Holy Symbol, Sharp Eyes, Speed Infusion, Advanced Bless, whatever!
Shade - Not sure how mobile, but can pull monsters towards himself! He has nice and colorful skills. I'm making one for my V Diary!

Cygnus:
Dawn Warrior - Cool stance-switching mechanic, flashy. All CKs (except Mihile :C) get the same style of Flash Jump, which can be used both laterally and vertically
Blaze Wizard - Not Good if you don't have low ping and/or aren't a hacker. It's cool otherwise tho!
Wind Archer - I don't like Archers.
Night Walker - Throws stars that make bats bounce between enemies. Has edgy darkness theme. Can Flash Jump twice without landing (otherwise same as other CK FJs)
Thunder Breaker - Is basically required to animation cancel their moves into each other because if you just use one move you'll attack really slow. There's no timing involved though and it's really fun! Doesn't throw sharks anymore though, now it just punches with them.
Mihile - The Dark Souls of Maplestory. Has an active block skill that triggers a buff and a strong counterattack if you successfully block attacks with it consecutively. It's really fun if you're good at blocking, but it might be hard with high ping? Also it has a worse FJ than other CKs; it only goes horizontally and can't be aimed upwards.

I'd REALLY like servers to go up so I can justify not spending 10 minutes writing forum psots!

Priests are super good at the new bosses! Their 5th job skill gives a shitload of stats (even more if you have high INT!) and Dispel is prob pretty helpful now that you can't get 100% status immunity. Also HS and AB are still awesome, ofc.

If you delete your burning character you can make a new one. You won't get any event items or anything claimed on it back, though.

What cross-class bonuses are there? I'll probably keep maining the Demon Avenger I started about a week or two ago, but burning seems like a good time to build up an extra bonus. Also, is there a good wiki I can look up information on?

Nice name! :)

There are link skills and Blessing of the Fairy/Empress's Blessing. The "Blessing"s give 1 ATT and MATT per level (also some other stuff), and a character on your account has one with a level equal to the level of your highest non-CK class divided by 10. So if my highest was 190 I would give every other char on my acc 19 ATT and MATT. Blessing of the Fairy caps at level 20. Empress's Blessing is only granted by CK classes, its level is equal to a CK's level divided by 5. It caps at level 24 when you're CK hits 120 but you can raise it to 30 by turning in a quest to Neinhart. The quest is available every 5 levels from 125-150. You just... talk to Neinhart. I don't know why it isn't automatic!! Also Mihile has to kill Arkarium to raise his Blessing level so if you make a CK for Blessing don't make a Mihile.

Link skills are just something all the classes added to the game after the original Explorers have. Each class has a different one. They can share it with another character on the same account once they reach level 70, and all links (except Hayato's?) have at least 2 levels. A link levels up to 2 when the class that generates it hits level 120. Some links can go up to level 3 when the character reaches level 210, but it's not worth it unless you're hella tryhard. Also non-Demon resistance chars share the same link that stacks up if you apply it with more than 1 resistance class. So if you have a BaM, a Blaster, a WH, and a Mech it can go up to level 8. CK's also get a stacking link skill (it goes up to 10) but it's not very useful after the status resist changes made in yesterday's patch.

Also, for those who haven't had a chance to log in yet, they changed the Link Skill Manager so that you can move around your links without going on every. single. character. that provides one. :gizz:

They said they fixed that in the patch a day or two ago, IDK if it actually works now though.

I picked this back up in November assuming that the 5th job stuff would be happening in December and even then, when nobody was playing, there was always a noticeable amount of lag. Nothing that made it unplayable, but skills would take a second to activate here and there. Ever since the last patch, though, it's been complete garbage. The most egregious example was when Frozen Orb, which needs server confirmation for each hit, would just glide right past every enemy and not hit once. I bounced off the game again immediately after that because if Nexon isn't going to pay the server costs to make it a smooth experience with a normal population and slightly shaky with high then I'm not going to bother either.

The frozen orb thing has happened to me before and I fixed it by restarting comp. Try that if you want. If you're on W10 you have to do like a full restart or something, idk.

The addition of 5th job might tempt me to come back again except for the fact that I can never get part ~170-180 before wanting to quit. I'm not exactly sure why but I've never hit 200 and seem to have a really hard time even getting close, basically once the best training spot becomes Future Henesys/Knight Stronghold it becomes way less fun. I've gotten to that point on a Mercedes in El Nido and then a Hayato in Reboot but never further... is there something I'm missing that makes the game less of a suckfest at those levels?

Well, they reduced the exp needed to level up between 160-200 by around 30%. That might help! ;)

Well, that sure is some title screen music to come back to after 5 years.

After being away since the Chaos patch, I'm thinking of starting anew on Reboot. Does the Reboot guild play together often enough that I won't be stuck training alone? FWIW I'll probably be playing support as a Bishop or Kanna.

Also I'm not in a rush to start, so am I better off waiting until the server troubles die down, or is there some event going on that I shouldn't miss as a new player?

There's another burning event starting the 28th, it will let you get two free level ups for every level you earn up to level 150. Guild is active for now, yeah! If you want to start now or wait for burning is up to you.

I've just gotten into this a few days ago (currently playing on the Reboot servers) and I'm already having fun. I just have a few questions on some of the stuff.
1. What classes should I level up next?
I've already gotten a Kaiser and Xenon to 60+, and I'm currently leveling up Mercedes for the sweet exp link bonuses.

2. Is the professions stuff worth it?
I unlocked all of the profession stuff for one character, but I have no idea how useful any of it will be.

3. Is there a good guide to what content/events I should do first?
They've added a ton of poo poo to this game, it's kinda overwhelming.

Well, first I'd say to get on Discord. There's a link in the OP.

WRT 1: Whatever looks fun! I wouldn't worry about links until you find a class you want to main.

2: Eh. Alchemy is probably the best crafting prof, and also you should always harvest legendary veins/herbs.

3: I usually just grind unless I have an event forcing me to do quests, lol. :shobon:

Primary reason to play it is for the account rewards, I completed all of the missions when it was in last year and holy hell did it get tedious. Particularly the Holy Pink Beanity title, which is just as good as the Maple Specialist title from the V Diary but looks cooler imo. RIP all my effort on GRAZED... :smith:

Yeah, just put all your points in your main stat for basically any class. The only weird ones are DA, which has HP as the stat you put everything in, and Xenon, who splits his stats 3 ways. Xenon has 3 auto-assign buttons though so it's still really hard to gently caress up.
