Actually I guess Lamp warping is the one thing the game really lacked that I felt. The blood vials being limited but them giving you more of them gave the game a different tension than the Souls games so I didn't mind it.

oddium posted:100 nintendo levels are worth more than an infinite amount of portable user levels Eh, arguable. Those levels will be better but the original had a bunch of Nintendo made levels too and while they were good levels, no one ever talks about those because the actual charm of the game was the infinite amount of fun-bad to actually fun user created levels you could have.

Yeah, I was pretty impressed by the demo but I kind of expect the actual game to be less interesting. I hope I'm wrong about that because, once again, the demo was cool.

I will say that while it's still anime as all get out, the story on the new Blazblue sticks the landing and ends in a mostly satisfying, mostly making sense manner. Still wish it had a dub though

Yeah, I've always liked GG more but BB has a really huge diverse roster. When you look at a game like this where no two characters really play anything alike and he'll almost no two pyrite tile moves are alike, it makes Capcom's "half the characters are variations on Ryu" thing seem kind of lame these days. The story mode barely has any fights but the arcade mode is all fighting and had 3 stories for most of its characters. It really has a ton of single player content this time around which is good for sone one like me who likes fighting games but can't deal with the prospect of people that are actually good at them.

I too only played MM3 with the ultra jump cheat that could also make you I invincible which is part of the reason it was so nice to finally beat that game (mostly) legit.

Looper posted:X6 isn't irredeemable dumpster trash It's pretty bad. The level design sucks, the random weather effects were not implemented with the stages in mind and just everything is kind of dull and seems to lack any real direction or cohesion. X5 was rushed and it hurt it badly and was a major step down but was still passable. X6 was a major step down from that. It's not as bad as X7 but that at least has the excuse of being them trying something different. X6 is more of the same but far worse.

There is no couch music because the game just autosaves. The soundtrack is pretty amazing though. I dunno, I loved the teams other two games as in their two of my favorite games so I was still pretty hype. The creature in this is just such a big lovable goof that I'm finding it pretty much impossible not to be loving this so far.

Not being hyped for a big release is fine. There is no law saying that you have to be hyped for a game others are hyped for. Still, just sort of stating that you don't think a game looks interesting doesn't really add much to the conversation and often just comes across as making GBS threads on others enthusiasm

The thing I think that is oddly neat about The Last Guardian so far is that, though it's a bit of a simplification, is that you're essentially playing Ico with the roles reversed

With Phil Fish, I think he's a very talented and clever game designer and I don't really care that he's a dick, though it's annoying that his dickishness and and people's other hatred of him because of it seems to have effected his desire to make games (though he did that VR thing recently).

To be fair, Gearbox themselves marketed it as being a direct competitor to Overwatch, so I think that's where people get that idea. They also are both team based FPSs that are character centric and that's close enough for some people

So might Dragon Quest Builder but that also means harder on building

People yearning for Lara the way she used to be (a constantly objectified, barely human dress-up doll) and despairing them attempting to make her more human always strikes me as just trying to get riled up over pretty much nothing. Like I'm not saying the portrayal of reboot Lara is perfect, but man it has loads less problems than it used to.

Healbot posted:Turns out you are the unpredictable animal for giving into your impulse to buy TLG. It's good though. I guess the best test to see if the game is for you is to watch that clip in the above video of Trico batting around and playing with the chain. If your first reaction is "d'awwww I need this game now", then the game is for you. If your reaction is "that looks like such bullshit! Just let him climb the loving chain!", then avoid. It reminds of people complaining about escorting Yorda in Ico: like if you just want to brute force the game and treat the ai character as a nuisance then you're gonna have a bad time. If your willing to treat the character like the thing they are supposed to be and do the things the game wants you to do in regard to that, you should have a good time.

Pirate's Curse is easily the best in the series so far but MAN is it full of pointless fan service, to the point where it might scare off some people that would otherwise love the game. I hope the new one tones that down a little bit
