this is very likely to be the case

once you get past a few million bucks, rich people don't own things for their practicality, they own things to show off how rich they are. nobody needs a 30k sq/ft mansion, they live in to demonstrate how they can afford to live in a giant impractical house. if society is reduced to a small group of robot owners who just turn their robots to build increasingly enormous mansions to live in then they're not really rich by society's standards, they're all pretty middle class. basically without a huge underclass, rich people aren't really rich

I think you overestimate rich people's egotism. Many of them, like us, are worried about the end of the world or massive societal upheaval and have the resources to prepare for it. Google "rich survivalist" (sorry, phone posting) and you'll see gated communities made for the rich to live out the apocalypse in luxury. Sure, if society collapses their lives will take a massive hit in quality but I think plenty will sacrifice their purchasing power for the sake of their survival.

Besides, how many poor people does one need to lord over? You don't need billions, a few lackeys, a fool, maybe some slaves or a harem will do. Everything else would just be a faceless mass of usless eaters.

In 50 years, maybe we can have robots that can do some chores around the house, MAYBE. But actually being as smart as humans is centuries away, imo.

Umm, we already have them now? You know, washing machines, dishwashers, garbage disposals, Roombas etc? We also have plenty of instant food, like hot pockets and TV dinners, made in highly automated plants. I know it's not
as exciting as having your own Rosie the Robot, but automation already does many household tasks.
