Something like uberPOOL could help with that though. That's probably the best hope for reducing suburban traffic congestion in general, just increase vehicle occupancy.

This isn't really true. The state fair here for instance had several buses dedicated to serving 2-point routes between it and like 3 locations with abundant parking.

Predictable, high demand between specific locations are really the scenario that mass transit is best at serving. It's fluctuating demand between scattered points of interest that they're not good at.
