Tijuana Bibliophile posted:The idea that a developer would get the cameras running before having downloaded the client and tested that it works is just baffling, biggest moment in a while, at least for me Why? They've repeatedly done live events with builds they were downloading while people were waiting outside. They even did a mini-documentary on how incompetent they were for CitCon this year. The only thing that would surprise me at this point is if CIG did something right.

AP posted:I don't feel bad for the devs anymore, that guy joined CIG in August 2015, it was obviously CIG were taking advantage of the mentally ill at that point and rumours of how bad employees were treated were circulating among dev studios. Same here. The folks who were there early on at least have an excuse, but now that production has descended into a monstrous joke that only exists to milk backers I have no sympathy for them. There are plenty of other game companies out there that make actual games and don't waste millions of other people's money because they can. Whenever this clusterfuck collapses, either because CIG finally does release a steaming pile of poo poo or because CR finally outspends the money faucet and goes bankrupt, every one of them will be tainted by their affiliation with CIG. They'll spend the rest of their careers hearing "oh you worked on Star Citizen" along with a barely suppressed laugh (assuming they can even get a job working on games). The worst thing will be the new hires, the ones right out of college who don't know any better and assume that CIG's constant deluge of incompetence and waste is normal for game development. At this part every one of them is a willful participant in a blatant scam. The sad part is that most of them probably don't realize that CIG is just as likely to gently caress them as their customers. Just look at what happened to 38 Studios.

Disaster projects are a thing that happens regularly enough in the biz that there's no stigma associated with it. Everyone knows someone who once was working on a project that was terrible or on fire. The black marks are pretty well confined to the management level. Fair enough. It makes sense that the random guy working on the pube distribution of the left testicle of the Vanduul boss in Squadron 42 wouldn't see his work impacted by the whole company going tits up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyWqCew1g-A lovely crowdfunded closed development obvious hacks Warhorse Studios continue to show "progress" on their "game" that is currently in an "alpha state" where all of the intended games features are "implemented". Notable pieces of information include a dramatic three and a half hours of motion capture for a single player narrative game (it took them a whole month), numerous examples of where ambitious features had to be cut for the interest of gameplay, and artists being tasked with the alien concept of "optimization". Clearly a scam.

I mean I'm irrationally irritated at how loving stupid that is. 900 years in the future and they need five guys running around doing some bullshit choreography from when giant airplanes were launched with steam off of ships. POOL IS CLOSED posted:It's the result of the 3/11/2011 earthquake in Japan also striking Hitachino's brewery. They had a new mash just before the quake struck. The damage led to a 3-day power outage, and the casks of mash were all tilted at an angle, so the mash entered spontaneous fermentation. I think the original intention was a witbier, but what they wound up with has the look and feel of a sour Flemish red ale. The brewery was able to make 8,000 bottles of this disaster beer -- it's pretty interesting if you like the sour style. Spicy, sweet n sour, with some red fruit tang. It's pretty cool that the brewery was able to claw something worthwhile out of their misfortune. That sounds amazing, but it also sounds impossible to get.
