Thauros posted:i remember most people thought ROH was gonna be on board with FloSlam in the period between announcement and launch. Know if something happened there, or were negotiations never that serious to begin with? The negotiations were very serious. I don't know what happened other than it was probably nixed at the Sinclair level. First I realised that things went south is when Flo was bidding on the Bucks. Flo were offering a lot of money for the team. More than WWE and it took two companie's budgets and very favourable terms to outbid Flo. They are or were bidding on Kyle O'Reilly. I don't what to believe anymore as the establish Wrestling media only mention WWE.

Kyle's situation and that of a few others is a bit of a hot potato currently. Sit tight for a few weeks. Hope someone takes the bullet and talks about it soon.

Uhaacrewz posted:Donovan Dijak appears to be finishing up here as he's not currently scheduled for anything beyond the February TV taping in Pittsburgh (although one source noted that could change). That may be a by-product of WWE interest as the word that has been making the rounds the last two weeks is that WWE isn't comfortable offering anyone who was under a ROH deal an offer until they are 60 days out of their ROH deal expiring, obviously because they don't want to be accused of contract tampering. So, it's a case of talents now having to give notice to ROH, then wait a few months while working the indy scene to see if they will get a WWE offer. That likely explains why Kyle O'Reilly disappeared after his contract expired on 12/31. This what Meltzer was cryptically referring to on WOR two weeks ago re: contract tampering. Allegedly/apparently Corino's NXT tryout displayed on the WWE website was contract tampering. So ROH sent WWE a legal letter. Dijak aren't the only ones effected. Use you imagination who is.

NotQuiteQuentin offered a very intelligent answer. But the human side is that Joe Koff ROH's CEO considers Delirious like a son. There's been outright coups to overthrow Delirious but Koff want listen to criticisms/grievances.

Roque11 posted:Kevin Kelly is not even 100% gone. He just left his office job due to the added stress of doing commentary for New Japan. He'll still be doing announcing work as freelancer. Just more ammo ROH haters are trying to use against the company. Even if he was gone it's no big deal. Kelly has been mediocre at best as an announcer dating back to his WWE days. Him being the voice of ROH has made the company look lame as he presents an uncool image. His claim to fame is being the guy The Rock would always make fun of and refer to as hermie. Cool gimmick

As revealed on MLW Radio last night ROH is no longer using Kevin Sullivan. Personally I thought his stuff was the worst part of the recent product. BUT he was greatly liked and helpful towards the locker room. Sullivan was a political actor back in the day but now he's a 67 year old man who was just happy to get out of the house these days. But a paranoid Delirious and Koff felt he was too much of a threat so they axed him. Meltzer will likely report it as they let him go as Corino left mid storyline. Much like the Truth Martini departure.

MagicCube posted:As dysfunctional as the backstage environment is, ROH still has a lot of cool wrestlers and good matchups so I will watch them. Marty Scurll is very good and maybe my favourite wrestler at the moment. His match vs. Ospreay at the ROH London show cemented it for me. I've gotten the rep of hating ROH but the in ring quality is still at a high standard and the TV has been largely strong every week this year so far. But ROH is lacking in compelling stories or fan faith that a new talent can/will reach the top of the card/win the belt. I can't fault how they handled Marty. Hope they can convince him to say on with the company past Wrestlemania weekend or so.

oldskool posted:It's tough to put together storylines when seemingly half your roster isn't signed to contracts...and said roster members are more hesitant to sign because of the lack of pushes and storylines...really feels like ROH has dug themselves into a vicious feedback cycle here and I'm not really sure how they get out of it. Where the Joe/Punk/Danielson era had talent topping out on indies via ROH. The Corporate Sinclair era had Kevin Steen kinda creating the idea that being eventually pissed off with ROH and washing your hands of them is a career milestone or graduation point. Others have since followed: Deciding "gently caress this poo poo" is the new ROH World Championship. https://twitter.com/ProjectCiampa/status/746220129491443712 There's a very healthy post-ROH support group in WWE/NXT and EVOLVE these days.
