There was an episode of iCarly guest-starring Booger from Revenge of the Nerds based entirely around the joke in the thread title.

Hook had a suitably piratey soundtrack:

Of course, YMMV on the quality of the film itself (I recall loving it as a kid, at least), but the soundtrack? That's great.

After we got out of At World's End, I said to my sister that I wished they had only made the first movie. She was kind of shocked. Dead Man's Chest was still good, but it wasn't worth at World's End. The first two earned their ridiculousness. At World's End did not, and it became kind of painful for me by the end.

You know a few years after seeing Muppets Treasure Island I saw a "serious" film version. It also had a blind pirate run around the tavern screaming "I'm going to get you!" before fell outside and was run over by a horse. Sadly the rest of film failed to live up to this excellent start, and I switched over twenty minutes later, after they still hadn't gotten on the bloody ship and had passed up multiple opportunities for a song and dance number.

They were all poorly thought out vehicles for Eddie Murphy to rebuild his shattered reputation?

First Pirates was good, second one I don't really remember, third one I think I saw on a plane and was bad. I would still go back and rewatch the good first one, I would never rewatch the others or any further Pirates Of The Caribbean Cinematic Universe sequels.

The first Pirates is a good movie that gets bogged down around the 100 minute mark and never fully recovers. Dunno how I sat through it three times in the theater and came away loving it.

I'm a big fan of Hook. This is like entirely due to watching it a metric fuckton growing up, but it's really pretty drat good. Robin Williams good as always, and Dustin Hoffman as hook is inspired. The rest of the movie doesn't hold up, but it's still fun to watch captain hook chew scenery

There are many many reasons why execs are scared to put women in leading roles in movies and games. It is beyond a double standard that the industry freaks out when a female lead movie does poorly and draws these assumptions and beliefs about that but just shrugs and keeps casting white guys even when movies featuring white guys do poorly.

Anyway, I liked Treasure Planet!

Also not a movie but the cartoon Pirates of the Dark Water was :krad:
