If you live in Brooklyn I would suggest the New King's Democrats. They are a grassroots organization that is trying force the King's County Democrats to be an actually democratic party, rather then a group of crony's with way too much unaccountable power. Other platform planks are Criminal Justice, New York State Constitutional Convention (literally will be on the ballot in 2017,) the Environment. http://www.newkingsdemocrats.com Currently the on the county level you can't make a difference because they only meet publicly once every 2 years (this is by design). So join NKD, force them to be more transparent, and then you can run for one of 2000 vacant district seats in 2018.

pathetic little tramp posted:Got an email from the local young dems organizer in the KY, lol at the ineptitude: FYI, this was the status of the King's County DNC website as of 2012. It's been fixed now, and honestly it was a huge win. It's also not ineptitude, it is malice.

Lemming posted:Try to get in contact with other candidates who seem progressive. If you're one of the friends a candidate has convinced to show up to view for then, on an individual level, it's best to only vote for the friend since they just take the 7 highest vote getters. If you can agree to have all your friends vote for people on a list, you increase your chances dramatically. You'll probably have even more luck cross gender, since voting for a woman won't hurt your male friend and vice versa. This is good advice and how NKD ended up grabbing about 200 out of the ~1300 seats up for grabs this year.
