So trying to get involved up here in Buffalo seems to be kind of a shitshow. As far as I can tell, the local organization is the Erie County Democrats. Their website is a facebook feed + a big READY FOR HILLARY banner. Membership- as far as I can tell, which is limited- appears to be gated behind a 52$ yearly fee, which whatever, I've donated, because I got money. When you sign up, you can choose which committees you'd like to be considered for. I put a number of them, and then sent an email to the listed county chair asking for more details about what exactly each committee does and when they meet. I've got nothing back as a reply but "Thanks, look forward to meeting you!" and literally nothing else from the entire county party in the last month (I did all this in the days after the election). The absolute only thing I can find is a christmas party on Monday with a 50$ admission fee. I'm considering going out of sheer desperation that otherwise I may never actually meet any of these people. :v:

This poo poo is kind of frustrating. I also put myself in as a volunteer literally 'wherever you might need people'. I have money to donate! I have time to volunteer! Let me help you!
Absolutely go to the party. Treat it like one of those campus recruitment fairs: dress up, be ready to recite what on your resume should strike them as relevant, make sure you follow the various rules (if it says bring a dish to pass, bring one) and offer to keep up their website (assuming you're capable of HTML). Chances are they will fall all over themselves to say 'oh God yes please.' Bring a friend if you can. Once you've taken a look at what needs to be done you can start either making suggestions or outright starting to do it and keeping them in the loop, e.g. 'hey you mentioned you were looking into X so I saw Y and Z and created this thing to help with X, thanks for the heads up!' Making it seem like their brilliant idea will go a long way towards letting you do what you want in getting their asses in gear.

Illinois. Its a Dem stronghold but its the kind of Dems that Reps like to point to when they try to claim they're all corrupt as gently caress. (Of course the Reps here are corrupt as gently caress too there's just fewer of them in statewide office so they don't make as many headlines due to attrition).

Here's something that may be of interest to the thread: https://knockeverydoor.org/

A bunch of former Bernie staffers are putting together a massive canvassing operation, with the goal being to not only discuss issues with voters one-on-one, but to also collect information on voters' concerns and use that data to build political networks on a local level.
Bring some voter registrations forms and brush up on registration rules for your respective areas while you're at it (e.g. you have to re-register if you've moved since the last election).

Just a reminder that consolidated elections are TOMORROW for the state of Illinois, so if you live there, GET YOUR rear end TO THE POLLS (I assume I don't have to tell anyone to register, you should all already be registered or lol why are you in this thread).

Google your county to find out what's on your ballot and try and find voter's guides, check local newspapers to see who they endorse and why, blogs and such will also do endorsements/voter guides if your local paper sucks. To see where you are registered you can check your county clerk's website, google <county name> county clerk illinois and put in your address.
