I was just about to suggest this.

On the Audi in question, there was a trigger button that engages a pneumatic actuator to move the pedal. Fairly simple to do as well, but of course no real subtley about it - it just slammed in and out as hard as the actuator was set up for. You could replicate that but not have the actuator work as fast.
