No I don't believe that. He's a bad QB because he isn't very accurate. I just think it's dumb to base the offense around mediocre TEs. That's why I want a guy like Travis Kelce.

Dennis Pitta leads our team in catches with 61 but only has an 8.3 yards per reception. Travis Kelce leads his tam in receptions with 70 and has a 13.1 yards per reception. Look at the difference. We target Dennis Pitta like he's Travis Kelce but he isn't. I like Dennis Pitta and appreciate his contributions to this team especially his Superbowl touchdown. But he's no Travis Kelce.

Yeah but what I mean is if we want to run a TE-based offense we should have a top TE like Travis Kelce. Ben Watson is 35 and was never really all that amazing. We need to either invest a real high draft pick in a TE or sign a big free agent or concentrate our offense elsewhere. I admit we don't really have a lot of great top talent on offense. But we should try to build around Mike Wallace for now he's our best guy. Maxx Williams is a joke and a bust. Crockett Gillmore maybe good. But not if he's hurt.

Those aren't big signings. Ben Watson at 34 or 35 isn't a big signing. He's not gonna be a Shannon Sharpe. And Maxx Williams probably won't be a Todd Heap either. We need someone big, a real top talent we can justify building the offense around. Maybe that can be Crockett Gillmore but he's injured.

can't you just let them win and then beat them later?

Well they can but this game could end up hurting them in tiebreakers if it goes down to common games. So if the Ravens beat the Patriots and the Steelers lose to the Bills that could spell trouble for Pittsburgh and make it real tough for them to win the division. I don't exactly know how these tiebreakers would wind up. And the Steelers have a couple games on the Ravens I do know like Jets and Redskins(ugh). I'll look at it.

edit: Via playoff machine it looks like Pittsburgh would win that tiebreaker anyway. So pretty much the division is likely going to come down to that game on Christmas. Barring some sort of upset game.

Probably, but it makes the Xmas game even more important.

Basically the Christmas game will decide the division unless one or the other team totally shits the bed. It should be a playoff game practically. Steelers have the tiebreaker if they win and the teams end up tied. Ravens would have to lose to Patriots as well as one of the Eagles or Bengals for a win in that game to be irrelevant. Plus the Steelers not getting upset either. The Ravens to me are a team more vulnerable to upsets than the Steelers, due to our offense's tendency to lose the plot. And we only just barely beat the Bengals at home.

It would be a huge win for the Ravens though because it would mean the all-time regular season series between the two teams would be tied. Something I never thought I'd witness, within reach.

But I would say the Steelers are the division favorite. Even if they lose to the Bills, they are likely to beat both the Bengals and Browns. As long as they don't lose one of those games, if they beat the Ravens on Christmas they will win the division. The Steelers will likely be in the playoffs and the Ravens will not.

So for the Ravens, beating the Patriots will be nice but really not even that important of a win except for a nice cushion in case of an upset. Because even if they win this game if they lose on Christmas they are out.

I don't really understand that mindset. The Ravens and Steelers have been basically at the same level since 2012 when they won their 2nd championship since 2000. The Steelers went to the dance once more than them, but the titles are the same, n'est ce pas?

Well yeah but I'm talking about the all-time regular season records from the franchises. The Ravens have actually been in control of the rivalry for a little bit right now, but the all-time records the Steelers are still ahead by one game. So it would be crazy to see them actually tied. Maybe only I care about this but oh well.

My point is that the closeness of their all-time rivalry is mirrored in their overall success. It isn't shocking to me that their regular season record is virtually tied based on their equal number of titles

The number of titles doesn't mean much because that only represents one season. Steelers used to be the clear team in control of the rivalry, winning the first three playoff games and having a 5-2 AFC N title wins advantage. Now it's 6-4 in AFC North title wins and the Ravens took a playoff matchup, and the season series is almost tied. The Steelers haven't swept the series since 2010(included a playoff game) but the Ravens have swept it twice since. And could get a third this year.

There used to be people who said it wasn't even a rivalry because Pittsburgh was in total control.

I just want to see the Ravens have a top performing offense. I'm tired of watching the team sputter every other game or more. I don't want to see that anymore.

The Redskins disgust me. Their team disgusts me their owner disgusts me and even their players disgust me. I am sickened by their very existence. And it makes me sick that we lost to them at home this year. I mean at least we got rid of Trestman otherwise we'd probably be heading for 3-13. I need them to lose and lose forever. And I don't like them.

That was the Ravens coaching staff on display right there. Just an absolutely pitiful and miserable performance. They were unprepared and incapable. The QB sucks, the coach sucks, and it's time for this team to blow it up and start over. We are not winning poo poo with John Harbaugh again.

Look at that last scoring drive we had. We needed two scores and took FOREVER to get up the field. Like just casually walking up to the line, no attempt to conserve clock. I just could not believe that. The top brass has to be looking at that and thinking what the gently caress. How is a coach in his 8th year or whatever it is, putting out a team that does that.

This wasn't a big game for the Ravens to have to win. But it doesn't matter. A performance like that is inexcusable, and it shows why John Harbaugh is not a good coach at all. He has got to be terminated.

You lost to a better team with better players and the best coaching staff in the league.

Quit crying like you are the god drat Browns.

Or if your coaching staff is so lovely, send them to the Browns and see what happens.

The Ravens should have done better than that. poo poo like dragging their feet at the end of the game had nothing to do with the Patriots coaching staff and everything to do with the Ravens being a woefully inept team. Our offense had no sort of plan. Our defense was made to look like idiots. The Patriots aren't this mythical unbeatable team. THE JETS gave them a game.

The one full year in recent history we've ever had anything on offense that resembled a real unit was 2014, unsurprisingly the year we had Kubiak. We weren't the 99-01 Rams by any stretch, but I could reasonably expect a respectable performance. Now we basically need a bad matchup problem like last week to even hope to see anything resembling competence. If we do good it's only because the other team screws up worse than we are.

Look at Dennis Pitta this week just four catches 18 yards. That won't cut it. Most passes dumpoffs. Fire everyone.

See my sentiments were right earlier in the year. The days of being good against New England are over. I was foolishly optimistic before this game. The only reason we were even in it was because of special teams turnovers by the Patriots. Also regarding special teams Devin Hester is garbage. Why is he still out there. I get the sense the team has some weird fantasy of him returning a kick or punt for a TD and then saying one of his returns came on us. Get rid of him. He's lost all sense of when to field punts when to let them go.

I don't understand how the Patriots were able to jam Pitta at the line with an undersized corner. He's huge. He should be able to bat that db aside like he's Terrell Suggs in a fight with his spouse.

He's an older dude with a bad hip. And this team does a poo poo job at getting the most out of its offensive talent. I'm convinced this team does not know what a gameplan is and just kind of goes out and does stuff they know how to do(which isn't much), and usually pretty sloppily. I always likened the Ravens to schoolyard bullies--they will pick on the little guys and outmuscle them but up against a real fighter it's clear they don't belong in that echelon. Only when we had a real offensive guy in there in Kubiak did we have an actual unit. And no surprise that was the year we actually beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs.

Fire the coaches. Hire good offensive guys with a record of success preferably in multiple locations. And no you smartypantses I don't mean someone like Norv Turner he has a record of failure.
