Rapids TD Paul Bravo has been fired resigned from the club effective today. link

He's made some good moves and had two good seasons (2010, 2016) but two almost last place finishes, the Oscar Pareja coaching debacle and a flurry of bad signings over the years make me not too upset by this.

Best of luck to him in the future of course, no hard feelings here.

The Rapids are reportedly about to sign Ghanaian MF Gilbert Koomson, from Songdal in Norway, for $600k.

link

Supposedly he had the most assists in the Norwegian league this last year.

Edit - it's great to see the Rapids sign an assist man like that, but does anyone know enough to compare Norway to MLS?

Rapids also signed MF Ricardo Perez of Creighton and CB Kortne Ford of DU as homegrowns just before announcing Paul Bravo leaving.

Hmm, not the African midfielder I thought we were after, but ok. Also glad to see those homegrown signings, at worst they'll be cheaper than Le Toux and St. Ledger. Ford could actually be pretty good though, and we definitely need more CB depth along with someone to challenge Watts.

There's rumors of another Ghanaian MF named Bismarck Adjei-Boateng, currently of the Manchester City system and on loan with Stromsgodset of Norway. This deal appears to be further off. link

I like the homegrown signings. Depth at CB and push Watts, and someone cheaper at least than LeToux? Sold.

John Spencer out as Rapids "assistant coach in charge of attack", Conor Casey in. link

Rumor has it he's going to SJ to work with/for Dom Kinnear. link

Good luck to Spenny but geez...that was dismal this year on the attack for the Rapids. Hopefully Casey has the personality to coach and can do better.

Padraig Smith has also essentially taken over as Rapids TD. No real surprises there.

Rapids get Dallas, RSL and Vancouver as their extra games. No real surprise. But at least they get RSL away on a Saturday in August...that'll be a nice change of pace.

How is Toronto weather in July? Hot and muggy or downright not bad?

Um. Huh. No idea what to make of this.

Edit - He's a better super sub than Badji right now and can play a reasonably similar style to Doyle. Works for me.

Excellent, putting him in front of Azira/Cronin should at least make our counters more respectable. Looks like his skillset is:

1) Box-to-box with high recovery speed
2) Harass the ball
3) Find attacking players in good positions to screw up chances :v:

Boy do we have that last one in spades. :bang:

The other Rapids target, Koomson, reportedly failed his medical exam so the deal is off.

Sure hope they have someone else in mind now.
