Clearly this is a far better quality, more flexible music format than MP3s

That Roland interface is garbage compared to the Yamaha though

Nobody outrules the Marquise de Cat!
I want there to be a streaming radio for .MID files recorded off a real old soundcard (I'd prefer Adlib), original tunes like CANYON.MID and songs from games that had .MID soundtracks

original tracks only no covers

Still better than android clock

all music should start with a four-tick count and end with whining about how the lead vocal track should be muted so people can sing along with it

midi seems like the most stable tech standard to date, people are trying to use usb as the transport and extend it with higher resolution and lower latency but it's still used for so much stuff

also that's called stadium trance or cheese trance, download a bunch of euphoria or gatecrasher mixes if you want to learn more

The reason you think it sounds like "80's tech" is because studio engineering has been simultaneously enhanced in precision (so we have better resolution than the 31,200 bps midi pipe) and devalued as a trade (so you can make interns line up samples to the 96k sample for $12 an hour). We pay people slave wages to carefully perfect the sequencing and production.

that sound was humanity in the machine, and it is now 'quirky 80s nostalgia'.

i *actually* think the reason in this instance is that people forever confuse midi the protocol with the general midi soundfont stuff :ssh:

my bloody valentine's Loveless' drum tracks are all sampled drum hits from the drummer, then they quantized the entire loving thing and ran his drums into the sample bank, this is why Loveless sounds like a studio demo with a Boss drum machine

helllll yessss

coincidentally tyrian's music is some of the most heavily impacted by differing midi hardware, I've found. It can be really strange/bad on some hardware

for example:

adlib: (terrible)

AWE32/64: (:hellyeah:)
