I think he should make a deal with Mexico, where he gives back the land illegally stolen in wars of aggression (maybe not the good land, just arizona and new mexico and utah) and in exchange all of the illegals currently in the united states will be sent there, to become mexican citizens.

I think this would be a good gesture of friendship towards our southern neighbours, while helping to deal with the economic impact of illegal immigrants, and providing them with a chance to use their own land.

I hope they create a bounty for information leading to the arrest or deportation of illegal immigrants, that way I can join organisations and pretend to help and give advice to illegals while really I'm just learning their names and turning them in for fat stacks.: That's so Trump.

My English Illegal buddy dumped the girlfriend he had convinced to come over here with her child in order to conceive an anchor baby, and sent them both packing home. Why? Because he found an american woman willing to marry him and give him a greencard.

Dude is really just a huge scumbag and has made me not a fan of illegal immigrants. And you can't even call it racism since he's the exact same race as me

everyone knows the real answer, nobody wants to do it because of intense lobbying by the people who profit off of cheap indentured labor

Is the answer "actually enforcing immigration laws like every other country in the world" ?

It's a shame, because anytime those raids happen the poor people in the area, usually black people, get a bunch of jobs and the local economy massively improves

let's hope trump has raids, fines and jail time!

also, having to pay for the wall without being allowed to continue to use the usa as a release valve for the mexican peoples' righteous anger, will cause the capitalist government to fall to the forces of socialism, which will be good for the mexicans and everyone in the world

Guess the vast amount of evidence indicating that immigration improves the economy/decreases crime is wrong then

It doesn't matter that something "improves the economy" because ALL the gains of economic growth for the past 30 years have been going to the 1%.

When someone says "but the economy" they're really saying "but the superrich's superprofits!!"

Outsourcing also "improves the economy" but how much did that argument help turn working class americans in the rust belt against it this past election?

I'm sorry that your Abuelita was such a horrible failure at trying to open the floodgates at the border, babypolis. But it wasn't really a realistic plan for Mexico to keep using the United States as a release valve for their problems indefinitely. Perhaps now that all of your nation's most esteemed personages aren't unblocking toilets or working as line cooks (like I failed to be), the Mexican people will finally be able to turn Mexico into the great state which is its destiny.

Maybe the first step is to stop the abhorrent treatment of your fellow spanish-speaking refugees fleeing violence from the northern triangle while making disney eyes at gringos in the USA about how oppressed you are.

Ya so let's expropriate the 1% instead of letting them divide and conquer us like lemmings

I agree. Maybe you'd like to explain this to some of the WOKES around here and in D&D who seem to have a total blindness towards class and attack you for only caring about straight white men when you refer to union membership and wealth inequality statistics from the mid 20th century to show the awful decline in the power of the working class.

immigrants are laborers, and the fact that they're labor gets exploited at the expense of local laborers is bad, but they're not and have never been the problem

'opening the floodgates' is really dehumanizing way to refer to people trying to get by

Well, they are a part of the problem. Capitalists are always going to want to hire the cheapest labour available, so removing the availability of incredibly cheap illegal labour is a boon for the American legal resident and citizen.

Pardon me if I don't have much sympathy for people who "try to get by" by illegally entering, staying and working in the sovereign territory of another nation after I spent 18 months apart from the woman I love more than anything to do things the way the government demands.

Every single country in the world has border controls and immigration/visa restrictions - And the USA is more or less the only one that doesn't properly enforce them due to massive lobbying by the capitalists who benefit from it. You're doing the neoliberal capitalists jobs for them by arguing for a totally open, globalized labour market where anyone can move anywhere, because they know that using the racist label gets people to comply with what is in their interests.

That's not how we help people in developing countries. We help them through international solidarity and building their own countries up to be as livable as ours, not by letting the small fraction of them who are healthy, wealthy or lucky enough to sneak across the border undercut the wages of fellow workers and drain remittances out of the domestic economy.

Do you really think the best plan is 100% free movement of peoples to travel all over the world at all times, or is that just the only moral end goal to aim for in your view?

Because I'm happy to consent to 100% free movement once global late stage communism has been reached. But until then we actually have to live in the real world where mass immigration pressure on housing, infrastructure, healthcare and wages is harmful to the indigenous working class of a country under capitalism.

The most successful unions in the late 18/early 1900s were those that didn't discriminate, i.e. the Knights of Labor and the IWW. When native-born workers band together with immigrant workers it's better for everyone. Mexican Americans are some of the most radicalized people in the U.S., as Eastern European Catholics and Jews were in the 20th century.

The problem of downward pressure on wages--which only really exists in the most menial jobs (otherwise immigration=net gain for workers' wages) --goes away with full citizenship rights which should be fought for in all circumstances. The solidarity of the working class is contingent on being international and not easily divided

I'm an immigrant. I have no problem with legal immigrants. America is a nation of immigrants.

But that doesn't mean you get to just decide when you want to move to someone else's country whenever you feel like it, and its racist for someone to take issue with that.
