During new student orientation, they walk you through a hand gesture to make your hand sorta kinda barely resemble talons, and what the "CAWWWWWW" noise should sound like if you're attending basketball or football games.

DFW has a radio station named The Eagle (KEGL). They have a drive-time show that's decent, but it also pokes fun at least a couple of times a week at the fact that their promo audio clip has a red tailed hawk. The company that owns it (iHeartMedia, aka ClearChannel) also killed off the only other major modern rock station a few weeks ago. It turned into a Christmas music station for a bit, now it's yet another adult contemporary station (to join the several others we already had).

Cop Porn Popper posted:Lemme guess, they killed the edge after not learning their lesson from killing the eagle the first time. Nailed it as hard as half of Dallas has nailed Cindy Scull. The Edge has been in a downhill slide for years though - ever since they did away with locally produced shows. I was a big fan of Edgeclub and The Adventure Club, though Josh (of Adventure Club fame) doesn't even live in DFW anymore. DJ Merritt is still in the area, but he was just another DJ on the Edge after Edgeclub ended. Scull is still on the air, but they have her on morning drivetime now. Not much talking, mostly music. It looks like KEGL kept one or two KDGE DJs.

I'm pretty sure "steering" is more of a suggestion on those. I know my 80 had about a quarter turn of play, and my stepdad's 92 had almost a half turn. He got pulled over a lot from cops thinking he was drunk. Nope, just sawing away at the steering wheel and yakking on the phone.

That looks so much like my stepdad's old F-150. His was a 92 extended cab, 351, dual tanks. It had a weird issue where if you bumped the O/D off switch (or even just slammed it into gear too hard), it would pop the fuse for the cluster, and the trans wouldn't shift on its own (or go into 4th) until you replaced the fuse. Steering was more of a suggestion of a general direction; bad enough that he got pulled over pretty regularly because people thought he was drunk and called him in. It was a pretty solid truck aside from that... except when the transmission poo poo the bed on a road trip (at about 200k). You usually expect a transmission to slowly wear out, or at least give some warning signs. Nope, it just decided "no more moving" while driving home from visiting his family. No warning whatsoever. (TBF he was pulling a ~15k lbs power washing trailer with it for a long time, with no added cooler....)

This. Stepdad had an 83 or 84 Olds with a BPO V8 of some sort (305? 350?) briefly, and I got to drive it a little. "Glacial" would describe the power. The engine wasn't in great shape to begin with (had tappy lifters on one cylinder and we suspected it wasn't running fully on all 8), but it was incredibly painful in the power department. It could hit ~60, but it took forever to get there. Good luck keeping up with modern traffic. 0-20 was pretty decent, once you broke what I'd guess was 2000-2500 RPM it just faceplanted. It was the most comfortable car I've ever driven though, and I certainly wouldn't mind one with a modern powerplant. My first car almost wound up being my best friend's grandmother's car - an 84 or 85 Buick or Olds (I forget which), mid size. It was equally sluggish, but it was a hell of a couch.

I think we can rule out most GMs, GM seems to be a fan of putting the gas filler on the passenger side on most of their cars. I think Mopar keeps it on the passenger side on most of their modern stuff too, don't they? All I really have to go on is that left rear wheel, I can't think of anyone that still uses a big cap over the lugnuts though (you can kind of see where it should fit). It looks too new for anything I can think of that would use that type of wheel, I've been sitting here doing google image searches of various midsize and fullsize sedans and can't find a match. The gently caress happened to it anyway? Someone kick it down a mountain into a bonfire? randomidiot fucked around with this message at 11:12 on May 2, 2018 |

They, uh, do cater to a slightly different crowd than the PT. But yeah, after all of that being pointed out.... that has to be a first gen 300. Mods plz award all of the points to Powershiftcakesmith handyman posted:I don't think I've seen a 300 without giant tacky cheap chrome rims. The only one I've ever seen without tacky wheels was one a friend owned... and it was because she was spending too much money on keeping the goddamned thing running. She bought it brand new with ~20 miles. I think it was on its.. 12th? alternator (all dealer, mostly warranty) and probably half as many batteries. She finally gave up, did a 180, and got a BRZ a few weeks ago. The 300 only had ~30k when she traded it in (think it was a 2014 or 2015); every time I rode in it, it picked a new and exciting way to fail (usually involving the charging or pushbutton start). randomidiot fucked around with this message at 08:12 on May 3, 2018 |

If it makes you feel better, the 460 was around 200 hp at the time... if that. The 351M in my 1980 F-150 was rated at 137 hp/257 ft/lb (when it was new.... I guarantee it wasn't putting out close to that when I got it, it could barely one-wheel-peel if you stood on the brakes, and couldn't do any kind of wheel spin once moving, even in the rain around corners). I'm sure the 460 had gobs more torque, but it's a smog era motor; I can't see it having a whole lot more hp at the time.
