Ether Frenzy posted:Just buy the one you want, the couple grand difference you might save in 'being frugal' or whatever isn't going to be worth the time you don't have an E9x M3, and having The One You Wanted counts for quite a bit. Like the artist formerly known as meatpimp said, $40k is probably around what you should be expecting to pay. This one specifically gets my heart racing and is everything I was wanting. We do have sales tax to the tune of 6.85%. That would be about three grand, plus there will be insurance and EAG only ships in covered trailers (awesome) and is about $2200. If the car had less than 50k miles maybe it would be a no brainer. I think that if I play the long game another can pop up and I'll be ready to buy it and spend less than $47k acquiring it.

Used to always be NYE with a great group of friends (and their kids) playing games, eating, drinking, laughing. Then NYDay was at a different house (same group) for an all-day movie marathon and potluck-dinner (along with gallons of coffee for the hangovers). Now we're out East and don't have a tradition going, which sucks. Tonight we're going to a potluck at some good new friends place, and maybe a little bonfire outside if the wind stays down. Should be fun. Wife's not feeling 100%, so we might not stay until midnight, but we'll play that by ear. Happy New Year all of you crazy fuckers.

I'm like 1500 posts behind on the December thread, so I think I'll just let it rest in peace with 2016 and move on with this thread. Doing my normal amazing NYE celebration, sitting at home alone at my computer. Maybe I'll actually have a drink in a bit. Tire-mounting chat. The local Fletcher's manager gave me an unbeatable deal to mount my stupidly hard to deal with racing tires (Hoosier radial slicks) on 16x12 rims for me. I would drop the rims with old tires off in the morning, and come pick them up just before they closed. As long as I didn't leave the old rubber there for them to dispose of, the price was a $20 bill to the tech that did the work. I no longer have the race car, and that manager is no longer there, so I'll never again see that amazing sort of tire mounting deal I'm sure.

Battle Trukk will return in the spring, LV's Century may be getting blown, we've got a fresh bus project, and hopefully I'll make some progress on the FrankenNova. Now I shall go have another beer and watch COPS with the wife.

Safety Dance posted:What's your beef and noodles recipe? Pretty basic. Get some decent beef, about a pound, cube it into 1 inch pieces, brown in a sauce pan. Dump that on a plate and throw some onions and butter into the pan and cook that poo poo up till they're limp as hell. Toss the beef back in, salt and pepper however much you like, pour a cup of beef stock in, stir it all up really well, throw in some bay leaves and crank the heat up til it boils. Let it boil for a bit, turn it down and stir the poo poo out of it again. Cover it and leave it for like an hour. Spear a piece of meat and it should be tender as poo poo now. Depending on how I feel I toss some peas or chopped celery in there after that hour. Then depending on how thick you want it you mix in one or two tablespoons of cornstarch. Turn the heat up a bit, let it cook up for another 20 minutes til the cornstarch makes the gravy thick. It should be ready to eat. I serve it over store brand egg noodles but it's great on rice as well. Very basic but it always tastes good unless you buy lovely beef. I used a london broil from Kroger for this batch. Last year we had more guests and I was pressed for time so I bought a top round roast from Meijer and cubed it up.
