I am taking notes thanks. I got a lot a stuff on my plate though. Getting the witness statement may be difficult.

Also I got a side gig! I applied to be a worker-driver for the bus driver program and I start my CDL training next month. Vroom-vroom!

Took my chiefs exam and I was actually quite surprised that the test felt like it was 40% IT, 40%crypto,15%publication memory and barely if even 5% radio questions. Big difference from last year.

Totally stupid test for reservists ultimately. Had like 30 CANES question s. I could count on my dick how many reservists I’ve heard of being sent to a platform with it. I don’t believe they actually ask reservist IT what they do and just copy the active duty test, which would be fine if we actually ever supported them on ships.

I have faith that I’m gonna fail it. The amount of questions dealing with recall of publication numbers and not actual IT issues was staggering. I simply can’t recall them if im not using them.

I’ve been an E6 for over 4 years now and in the reserves for 9 years. I’m pretty ok with being a decent E6 reservist whenever I show up.

Would be funny if they actually had questions on setting up your commands print queues or connecting nmci computers to the wireless or DTS or anything at all to reserve work.

Nah, you get gold (well, used to) if you've been 12 years with no disciplinary actions. So in your example, if the E-2 got in hot water at their 1-year mark, they'd be eligible for gold stripes in their 13th year and get to wear them for the last 7 of their 20.

(I think. If someone knows different please correct me.)

I did not submit myself in anyway. It would have to take the submarines command noticing my mil email below my civ email to do anything and I purposely omitted that detail in my letter and talk to the CO because I got plenty of good navy karma.

How do you know that’s not my next step?
J/K however I am forwarding the original letter and outcome to my chain of command now. I was terrified that the sailor might not be recognized and I would be and I would have felt like a heel. But now that he got the best result possible I’ll look to myself now.

The crew seemed to really like him. See what happens with the new CO.

Also the mahu story is used as an example for me telling younger sailors to never trust other sailors with information you can just google first.

Funny story. The last two printers I “fixed” in PSNS and Camp Smith involved the same issue. Stuck paper so the engineer/officer ripped it out and managed to make the return rollers in the tray dislodge and both times they rolled under the desk. Now the printers rollers won’t feed straight. I knew what the problem was right away and discreetly found the rollers and slapped the machine a few times, inserted the rollers back in and abra cadabra I impressed a nuclear engineer team.

Kinda scary.

It just depends on the test and how relevant it is to you that year tbh as far as ad. The first time I wa sup for first I studied my rear end off, used the bibs, etc. We were on deployment so what else was I going to do? Got like a 43 or something, next time I didn't study at all and got a high 80s and made first by like 30 points.

It's a pretty hosed up system, like they can put any FC NEC questions on the FC test, I'm sure it's similar for other rates that have a million jobs (IT).

Almost all radio and CANES questions. Two things I have never worked with in person as I have never served on a proper warship. Not a single printer question! Unfair!
However I noticed something kinda of funny on quite a few of the questions. They appeared to do the ol “one answer was so wrong it blatant” like a radio answer in a network question. Once I saw that I swear it noticed it a ton so my guesses with stuff at least was bit less random on stuff that really stumped me.
