Cerekk posted:While you're correct about this, it's not just that it's "too much work". The other part is the political side where O-6 squadron commodores regularly get annoyed at O-5 COs for submitting too many COMs. So even if someone else does all the work to put together an immaculate award package, it may still not be submitted based on how recently that commodore has gotten annoyed at that particular CO. Cerekk posted:I'm actually a line officer not a PS or whatever, I just have recent experience on the topic from spending the better part of 6 months attempting to push through a MSM as a retirement award for a 30 year master chief. I was more referring that you were quoting regulations like a boss. I love it.

There's no way in hell I would have lasted anywhere near FC-A for 2 years. In and out in 4 months and that was more than long enough.

M_Gargantua posted:We found the root cause for a lot of their issues! I'm recounting the dumb poo poo that I did in that time and good lord man. 1) Left a bar in North Chicago wandering back with someone else and a very nice police officer escorted us back to base without consequence. 2) Got on the wrong train out of TSC and ended up Kenosha with a GM buddy of mine. With no plan, walked into a dive bar, endeared ourself to the local populace and never paid for a drink again. 3) Didn't realize last call in Chicago was 4AM. 4) Carried a dude twice my size back from a Super Bowl Party at a Steelers (Seahawks) bar in Wrigleyville. Poured him into the cab, talked my way through the gate guard. There are another 10 things easily. I finished all of the CBT stuff 2 months early, had second pick of orders and then first pick out of C-School. My second Good Conduct Award is one of my cherished possessions.

I used to keep eyes on the selection lists every cycle just to catch a glimpse what people were up to. We have now gotten to the point where almost everyone I knew are at 20 or very close to. There is one person I want to see make Master Chief. Hopefully she made CWO4 and I just missed the memo.

Crab Dad posted:Yeah it’s gonna suck if don’t make it to Broadway by theater time. If I go back to that part of Manhattan again, you seem to have a good handle on getting to shows and I'd like to find out your process because it doesn't feel like "Seatgeek" or "random dude standing on street". e: I was considering "Crab Dad Fleet Week Extravaganza" but its not good enough. I feel like it needs to be something related to when he inevitably (and deservedly) makes Chief and a celebration to his baller hookups for his TADs. King Crab Dad is right there.
