Got an e-mail from my class that doesn't start for another two weeks that we better get working on the first assignment due!

Getting an ESL endorsement for my teaching license may have been a mistake.

Finally got my grades. I'm changing employers so I can't use the tuition reimbursement from my current one, but I did learn that apparently I can write off like $4000 of tuition on my taxes.

I need to see about converting my REAP benefits to MGIB so I can resign from the IRR.

I got my grades back and they took a little dip from the Spring. Kissed my 4.0 goodbye. Somehow I pulled all my Bs from midterm up to As but let all my As drop to A-minuses. I'm taking Linear Algebra this upcoming semester and dreading it.

So first I got a letter from my school congratulating me for making Dean's List for my great semester! Hooray!

Then I got a letter saying I'm on academic probation because my overall GPA sucks. Boo!

My crappy academic performance from five years ago is weighing me down, so I applied for academic forgiveness. The school says to qualify, I needed a five year break between the end of my last semester and starting up with them. I was three months short of five full years, but I was told to go ahead and apply anyway.

A week or so later I got a letter saying my application was denied because I didn't meet the five year break that state policy requires. So I looked up the policy and the state says I only need four years.

So when classes start up next week I'm going to see my advisor to ask him what the gently caress. If it's a school policy, fuckin' say so and don't hide behind the state.

Jesus, it's like trying to nail jello to the wall. Why can't poo poo go smoothly for once?

My course this coming semester uses functional programming instead of object oriented programming, which is something I've never done. I'm doing some small classes on functional python ahead of time and it's like trying to learn Chinese.

Turns out I graduated after all. I had to get my transcripts from the previous school sent to prove that I did in fact take the class that was a prerequisite for every other class I took. But whatever, I am free.

Functional programming isn't super hard, it is just a different way of thinking about things. Understanding lambdas made Java programming much easier.

Academic Forgiveness is probably the reason I was able to finish my BS. Its a fantastic thing. Make sure the policy you are looking at is not a past version of the policy just in case.

Just talk to the VA counselor at the school. They deal with this every semester and they'll take care of you.

If you aren't on VA Vocational Rehabilitation, you need to get on that. I would have spent over $1100 on books and various other BS like parking fees. Instead I filled out some forms and the VA payed for all of it. At the end of the semester books get sold for a profit, almost makes getting hosed by the army seem worth it.

Unfortunately my books from last semester only sold for a hot $20. But Voc Rehab is worth it just for the smug satisfaction of walking up to the book store cashier with about 10 books without that "Used" sticker on it and everyone thinks you're rich as gently caress for buying new books.

Low level sociology classes are loving horrible but should be really easy at least.

Conflict theory, structural functionalism, gesellschaft & gemeinschaft, etc. You won't get into anything remotely interesting with what to actually DO with those theories until the upper level/grad classes anyway.

Oh it's definitely one of those easy A classes, I'm just in more danger of falling asleep since for whatever reason I'm at least passingly familiar with most of the material. Plus the professor literally reads the powerpoints that are 2 editions behind the book, maybe a couple brief little elaborations or some hilariously biased anecdote to break things up.

I'm doing Khan Academy because I have to learn linear algebra before the 23rd and it makes me question the concept of institutionalized higher education. The courses are so easy to follow and they make the material so easy to understand.

I'm searching rental properties in the area I'll probably find work and I've noticed a lot of the new construction ones have really jacked up prices because they include amenities like community rooms and poo poo like that. I don't want to live in the same building as a bunch of loving idiots who decided they never want to give up the college dorm experience, and I certainly don't want to pay for it.

Should I just let him do it or should I try to tell him it's a stupid decision?

Or maybe it isn't? All I know is what I read about AIU on Wikipedia and it seems like a really scummy place.

I'm guessing this is a little more than just showing up to practice and meets like rowing and track were. Still, I'm excited to go the 3 gun competitions and shoot every week.

I used to be very involved in my department club until we took our first club trip to a geology conference. During this trip the following happened:

-Kid complained about the mouth feel of the local water

-A 27 year old woman refused to ride the bus to the conference by herself. I had to ride back to escort her. It was a 15 minutes trip

-I woke up to the weird girl trying to shove my flaccid member in her. Still don't know how she ended up in my room

-Got food poisoning from the Mexican restaurant attached to th hotel.

I no longer participate in school clubs.

I mean that sounds like a pretty decent party to me... (also it inspired the "this mouthfeel is haram" joke, which I still think about and laugh sometimes).

Actually though I've been super reticent to sign up for clubs and stuff like that going back to school. At Med school a ton of them are for "exposure" anyways, which isn't something I need a ton of, relative to kids coming straight out of undergrad into the medical field. Maybe a different scenario, but I just sort of feel like a lot of those student orgs are filling needs I don't have.
