Fingerpori is a pun-oriented, and often impossible to translate, Finnish comic by Pertti Jarla. 'eläviä muistoja' could also be understood as 'living souveniers' 'that didn't quite go down the tube' this is one of those untranslatable ones. a ski tube or ski tunnel (hiihtoputki) is a round the year ski facility, but 'putki' also stands for doing something for a long time in a row, eg. "he's been having a drinking tube since Christmas" and conversely if you fail at something then you can say it didn't go into the tube. This is a perfect example of Fingerpori: sexual pun, Donald Duck cameo and a setup that is only barely understandable for non-Finns (Donald Duck is Finland's most popular comic book magazine and is delivered every Wednesday)

I can't stop laughing at the last panel, though the first panel also reaches some new dimensions - like Bushmiller predicted this edit and therefore made Nancy look so wary.

Fingerpori This is Uuno Turhapuro, a popular comedic character. The headline at the end is the title of one of the 19 Uuno films, literally "Uuno Turhapuro in army's bread". Being "in [someone]'s bread" means being paid salary by [someone]. In recent years there have been several revelations of students or candidates of medicine getting themselves employed as actual MD's, only discovered after they have done damage. No joke, Finns actually say the line aloud because it's easier that way (yksi viiva kolme), the alternative is to conjugate the numbers (yhdestä kolmeen) and gently caress that like seriously, 'one' (1) conjugates Nenonen fucked around with this message at 07:31 on Jan 18, 2017 |

Fingerpori It makes sense in Finnish. Speed cameras are called "tin policemen" in Finland. It makes sense in Finnish. Blowing is slang for stealing. This came only a few days after a drunk Finnish man had been found trying to get a boar to penetrate him and then crashed his car. Which is perfectly legal in Finland, btw. - I mean the zoophilic act, not the drunk driving. But back to the comic. The act of forming pairs of something, like socks, is "paritella", but the word also stands for sexual intercourse. "Pitoihin" = to the party "Pitoihin"= to the pita breads This one is brilliant but untranslatable. Lasten neurologi = Children's neurologist Lastenne urologi = Your children's urologist "I'm NOT your children's urologist! Finnish works with suffixes, eg. if lapsi is child then lapsettomuuksistammekaan is the word for 'even despite our lacks of children'.
