Really it's probably the best Steven Seagal movie in general, although that's mostly thanks to Tommy Lee Jones.  Prime avatar material in the penultimate panel there. Mother From Another Country  In case it hasn't been clear yet, Mother From Another Country takes place in a rural area. Most of the South Korean stuff you all have likely seen is either set in or filmed around Seoul, so the cultural tropes are quite a bit different.

I don't recall if he said anything about this when he ran for President five years ago but if he did I can't imagine how he could have lost. Mother From Another Country  The first panel is an untranslatable reference to how Gi-tong's name, as I have previously mentioned, sounds like toilet seat. Actually at the time I thought it just meant "toilet", thinking that 통 would refer to the inside of the bowl, not the rim.

Tracksuit They're playing a popular game where people wear mufflers and yell words loudly at each other down a line to see if the person at the end guesses the correct one.  There's no translation because I don't have a clue what the punchline is supposed to be. It could literally be anything. Even if you don't speak Korean it's more parsable this way. Mother From Another Country  That editorial's not from me in response to that comment from several days ago asking what the point of the comic is. Evidently Park Seong-hoon actually started getting flak for that around this time and I'm guessing it's why we're like one comic away from the end of the first season. Don't really want to get into the second season right away. Do have an idea for a temporary replacement though. edit: how exactly do you regular Mac users function? Tracksuit  I have discovered to my great irritation that Preview in Mac works much better for these translations than Paint in Microsoft does, and having spent way too much time yesterday figuring out how to use this thing, I'm reluctant in general to go back to my previous makeshift office that uses normal computers even though I have to jog two miles to get to this one. You win this round hipsters. Mother From Another Country  A note from Park Seong-hoon claims that the comic was suspended for personal reasons, this final one from season one posting on March 19th, 2013. Season two started on April 2nd 2014. I'm going to briefly replace Mother From Another Country with something else to better symbolize that. Also because I don't want to get too out of synch with the dates, since Park Seong-hoon does a lot of seasonal humor.

Tracksuit So...does Preview in Mac have a fill tool? Can't Google a straight answer to that question since normal people only use it to change photos.  Local restaurants frequently advertise their television appearances, because travelogue segments where various production teams investigate local cuisine are popular on South Korean television. Inspector Doma  Inspector Doma was briefly published in The Sun (that's what it's called in Korean) back in 2011. This is actually only half of the first two-part episode. I'm not exactly in a hurry to do the whole thing all at once considering there's more plot here already than I can remember from the last year of Edge of Adventure. No, that's pretty good actually, although the characters had these same problems even in high school. When I first saw Les (don't know when he was introduced or what he's done since then) we were supposed to hate him because he elbowed Knute out of the way so he could use the (men's) bathroom that Crystal had commandeered at the time. Then he just took a piss and left, and Crystal blackmailed him with some weird story about cameras in the bathroom, then Les sulks over to the principal's office all guilty and asks for lenience since there's a killer math test coming up. Somehow that conversation ended without the principal just telling Les that there are no cameras in the bathroom. Then Les tries to ask Gunther's girlfriend out to Prom to provoke Gunther into punching him in front of the (non-existent) cameras. And I think that's about the last time I left the thread. My point is, even in the high school strips the sympathies were completely out of hack. Originally Luann was a middle school strip- in that context it might have made sense. I don't remember it being this bad back when I was a kid anyway. You know what really makes Luann easy to hate? It's that these plots are so well-defined they're easy to remember even years later. I couldn't tell you what happened in The Phantom or Judge Morgan two years ago to save my life.

Tracksuit Travel shows are very popular on South Korean television. The genre of these programs can vary quite a bit. Sometimes you have people trying to find food in a jungle in the middle of nowhere.  Others are just celebrities going on vacation to famous places. Inspector Doma  And that's it for this episode of Inspector Doma. Was the format difficult at all? This was originally published in two parts, not eight, so I'm curious whether the slower pace made it more or less difficult/engaging to read. There's more stories but I was planning on getting back to Mother From Another Country next week.

Both interpretations are correct. That one was actually a pretty direct translation. The mule one was a lot weirder- I first thought the word meant "fried", as in fried food that kids like to eat, and they were calling him immature. The expression "stubborn as a mule" was the closest corollary I could think of to that, although really, I was lucky English has a word that means half-breed but is also insulting in a non-racist way. "Sub Rosa" is, by contrast, almost completely incomprehensible.

The stork appears to be acting magnanimous by serving the wolf food it can actually eat, but actually the whole invitation was just an excuse to show off its sweet pad. Which is very wide a spacious, much like the wolf's plate, yet unlike the wolf's house. How ironic.
