Remember when James Ashby said Peter Slipper used some Cabcharge vouchers wrong in 2012?

He was investigated by the Federal Police and had to through years in court to clear his name. Ashby later dropped everything but the Federal Police found a Yarra Valley trip that could be tried.

Slipper argued he should have been able to just pay back the, wait for it, $954, before eventually being found not guilty at appeal in 2015.

On our first night, overlooking the strikingly Westernised skyline, I asked the younger one, Isaac, if he could relate to the neon sign reading ‘Income’. His plan in life is to leave home at 30, having become a history professor with a big red beard and a doctorate on 20th century militarisation. An income seems as distant as the sign itself. ‘Well dad, I don’t see any signs out there saying Australian Prime Minister’, he replied, without mercy, ‘You lost your election to an old bald midget – so get wrecked.

The go to response to a well paid profession is nursing? I'm guessing this writer knows literally no nurses.
I like that he implies barbecues and complaining about teachers holidays have been around longer than chalk and slate, naturally occurring rocks arguably in use together for writing since the 14th century. I like it almost as much as his commentary on teachers unions.

quote:

Apart from the obvious question; as to why schools even need unions...

That is partly due to teachers being confined to salary increments which top-out at a mid-level bureaucrat wage.

Unions exert significant influence on Labor state education ministers...

...it is remarkable how the system survives.

it is clear now is the time these entrenched union views be tested, to benefit of all teachers and our children.

Libs pulled a good trick by pretending things would be different without Abbott at the helm. Too bad Turnbull fell for it.
