I've seen a bunch of people do Zelda randomizers, and this is the one thing that is consistent across 100% of the runs. It's great and I'm glad it's not changing here. :allears:

M.A.N.P is pretty obviously Midnight Arbor National Park. :v:

That ship level was totally more in the style of a Wario Land level and that's pretty awesome.

Y'know, the more of this hack I see the more I realise that the people who made the levels and put together the hack greatly disagree with me on what "vanilla" means. Not the music and definitely not the overworld, that's fair enough, but a lot of levels have me going "...okay so how is this vanilla?" Maybe I just haven't played enough of SMW (definitely) but stuff like almost everything in the Fabulatory is visually cool and good but I'm not entirely sure it belongs in this kind of hack. But, clearly several people thought otherwise and I'm sure they had their reasons so

Is... there any way to, y'know, get that coin and still survive? It sure doesn't look like it.

Ninjaboy giving it a drat near perfect score probably inflated its rank a bunch, plus I think it's been mentioned in-thread once or twice now that quality is secondary to wacky gimmicks (albeit not quite so bluntly)? And that level had a very wacky gimmick, that... honestly until the saws near the hopefully end seemed really simple outside of its rotating color scheme nonsense. But the 56/60 boosting it sure wouldn't have helped at all.

I took the 0 second timer as the sole point of mercy in it, really. Even if that level IS as short as it should be, that kind of thing having a timer would be way too stressful to deal with.

Re Ghost House gimmicks, that first level also didn't use the Boos that turn into cement blocks! :v:

Having to use a Silver P-Switch to get the secret exit in the second level is infuriating twofold IMO. You've got the level outright lying to you with the fake solution... and ALSO the real solution. You get a demo about how taking a Silver P through a pipe makes it do nothing, before having to take it through a pipe and having it conveniently work that time.

Also the level is kind of ugly and things just seem to be placed randomly and without much meaning or purpose if its not related to these "hilarious" piss takes.

e; First level was super great though. Kinda think that one was a bit underrated by the judges, considering every level we've seen so far at least, and the dumb glitch bullshit one was overrated because injokey memes.

Man, that Red Switch Palace was weird because it was an actually fair puzzle for once and not "use this exact one glitch or perish."

Please Hold The Line was just straight up fantastic. :allears:

e; Also, uh, between Nimono blatantly score tampering because "well it's getting penalised anyway" and then the level's score getting bumped higher later, it really makes you question why they have judges and scoring anyway. Outside of deciding 20 levels that stand out as being overall the best and the worst (which could easily be done any number of ways), it really doesn't seem to actually mean anything. Like, the judges don't even seem consistent with what they consider good and bad a lot of the time.

I get that it is a contest and all, but there's bound to be easier ways to determine who wins other than 4 people who seem to just pick numbers out of a hat half the time anyway.

Jeez, what a ridiculously long and kinda boring level. Like, a 700 second timer that wasn't even close to being enough to finish a level is kind of ridiculously excessive. The level could've been, I dunno, half as long as it was and it'd still be overly long but at least the scant few ideas it had wouldn't have necessarily worn out their welcome quite as much. I'm not even sure what the point of some of them even was. The blue/yellow box "mazes" that aren't was the closest thing to a real main idea it had, and that was just pointless busywork. :psyduck:

If I remember right, there was like two levels that were ranked 11th according to the world map? One was the casino level, and the other one I don't even remember. The casino level definitely wasn't even close to as good as these two, despite being pretty alright overall.

I really wonder what Koopster's problem with the 10th place level was. If it wasn't for him ranking it basically a little bit over thoroughly average, it'd probably have ranked even higher.

That level is so bad, jeez. How could someone who thinks that is good design be a good judge of anything? And the rest are pretty bad as well....? God.

Anyway, regarding Ty's complaints re secret exits, I sorta agree but I think they could have a use if done well even in a contest like this, albeit as a bonus or whatever. It's very level dependent in the first place, but something like the line cutting level could have one and it not be weird or gratuitous, I think. If the regular level is a "okay, so here's this concept that I'm building the level around, it's short and simple so you can get used to it" then you can have the secret exit be an actual challenge of the skills the level teaches you. It still has the issues of being awkward to get to, and basically just being a way to play the level twice but at least it's testing you in a way that "drag the P switch across the entire level" and "go down this one pipe" don't. So, I guess less of a secret and more of a system mastery kinda thing.

So far, this seems more tedious and just far too long for its own good than outright bad (aside from that one bad Chuck placement, maybe the powerup restriction and that the Abstract section really needs an epilepsy warning...). But, considering it's been split in two rather than one video thats a little over half an hour that in itself might be a sign of what's to come...

When a thing says 2 mushrooms for all, I imagine that most people generally think that means 2 mushrooms for all. Not 2 mushrooms for the first one you do.
