Convoy A 70s trucker moving starring Kris Kristofferson, based on a novelty song about CB radios, and directed by Sam Peckinpah. WTF?
Also has Burt Young as a trucker driving for Paulie's Trucking.

9/9

I wouldn't be surprised.

The semi versus police car action is very reminiscent of The Road Warrior.

Lost City of Z: not sure what to say yet, just got out of it. It's fascinating and terrifying and gave me the wonderment of discovery but the hollowness of there always bring more to find. If the premise sounds interesting to you then check it out, it looks great on a big screen.

Wonder Woman is a good but not great super hero film that stands out among it's contemporaries for being the first female led super hero film and being the first good DC film. It has a lot of issues though and doesn't hold up well on repeat viewings. I'd put it as a firm 3/5.

What about Electra and Catwoman?

One of the silliest questions in history. Watch T2 asap, then never see anything else related to the franchise

Recently watched T1 with a friend who had never seen any of the series. At the end she asked, "wouldn't Sarah Connor be kinda hosed up from having so much death and violence suddenly shoved into her life?"

great too, but FR is a masterpiece and basically the movie he wanted to be able to make all along IMO.

I would put Road Warrior as a hair better than Fury Road, but only just. It being a direct sequel to Mad Max and and being almost plausible win out for me. Fury Road is a little too into fairy tale territory for me.

It's been a bit since I've seen it but I really didn't think of Road Warrior as a direct sequel

Well, it takes place a couple of years after Mad Max, but it's the same character and car, just worse for the wear of being in the forbidden zone. It is explicitly the childhood memories of an old man, but it's obviously a continuation of the story started in the first movie. Fury Road is more ambiguous and just tells a Mad Max story without trying to fit it into any existing timeline.

at least two of the film's best scenes sort of rely on that gore to work

without it, Murphy's death and the ED-209 boardroom scene are just kind of disturbing; with it, they're turned up to 11 enough that they read as blackly comedic

Murphy's death isn't comedic in either cut. It's more horrifying in the unrated cut, but it's not funny or played for comedy.

Rocky Balboa B+

Solid outing here. Very melancholy, but not dreary. The central premise strains credibility, but the actual fight is great and the most realistic of the series pre-Creed. The characters feel real and grounded and Paulie in particular is more sympathetic than he's been in any other film.

Creed 2 is not included on Prime. I might rent it.

Agreed on Balboa. The acting is great, and the annual tour really feels like something Rocky would do, but the idea that a fight between the current heavy weight boxing champion and a 60+ year old man would be anything other than a complete route is ridiculous.

I think my favorite subtle detail in Creed is Adonis finding a copy of Swank magazine in Paulie's old room. It's a perfect little character moment.

If you don't know, Swank is like a step below Hustler in the porn magazine world.

Watching Holiday Inn 1942. A pretty flimsy movie about Bing Crosby opening a small inn that is only open on holidays, which is an excuse to have a lot of holiday themed Irving Berlin songs with Fred Astaire dancing. It's the movie that premiered the song "White Christmas."

It's entertaining enough if you like dancing and snappy 40s comedy quips, but:

half way through there's a routine on Abraham Lincoln's birthday that features everyone in blackface:

Watching 40s movies is like walking through a minefield.

I hadn't either, and I almost felt like a failure. How did an 80s space sci-fi horror flick starring Bruce Campbell and Walter Koenig pass me by? Moontrap! Turns out, mainly because it's trash. For one, Walter Koenig plays the handsome, witty lead (!!!) and Campbell is the sidekick. For another, the effects are really crummy and it does little to escape being labelled an Alien clone. It's totally forgettable. 50

IDK, any movie that has Bruce Campbell fistfighting a vending machine isn't completely unredeemable.
