I just registered an account, solely to say: This LP was/is amazing, and the amount of effort you've put into this is pretty great. That said, mob rule has failed Iberia and anyone who votes anything but the Royalists wants us to fail.

The earlier we reconquer our cores the better. If full democracy is ever introduced, our population will be massively jingoist anyway and if you pansies delay the rightful liberation further, it’ll just lead to a fascist coup sooner or later. It also allows us to directly control the growth of those territories, and would allow us to apply both our existing pop growth modifiers, and our future ones too. A united Iberia is a real tough nut to crack, and sets us up nicely for when wars begin favouring defenders immensely. We made the choice to acquire cores on all of Iberia. Let’s not dilly dally now!

We should keep our alliance with the French, but their betrayal will never be forgotten. Any call to arms we receive by them should be accepted, but we shall act much like the British do in the base game; we do gently caress all. Screw France.

I feel vindicated. Royalists have made Al-Andalus great again, and also revealed that the DM is - unsurprisingly - a traitorous snake. We should ally the Germans, and prepare our northern border for invasion. We’ll carve those fuckers up.

Imperialists, if only to strengthen their mandate in face of the wayward souls who have succumbed to socialist lies. The royalists have been nothing but good for our nation, however, and I eagerly await their return to power.

The liberals refused to mobilise and as a result, Qadis was sacked by the malovelent morrocans. My support for them is now gone. Screw the imperialists.

A strong Royalist vote. Under the imperialists we suffered a humiliating defeat in Qadis. The moderates are massive pansies, alongside the socialists. Only the royalists have the best interests of Andalusia and its people at heart. We’ve been betrayed by practically every single ally we’ve had, and it’s high time we built a formidable army to minimise our dependency on these foreign scoundrels.

Remember when the genius Majis decided to push the kingdom to the brink, in order to become revolutionary? And then hosed it up? Maybe the blatant disregard for the common man in Al-Andalus has contributed to the formation of this glorious reactionary paradise we have going on.

Royalists. The socialists are traitors who’d gleefully see our position weaken internationally on pursuit of a ludicrous happy-go-lucky attitude towards governance. They’ve openly admitted to considering the possibility of allowing Morocco to retain its land on the peninsula, and more importantly, any update with the socialists in charge will be utterly boring. No colonialism, no wars, just jerking ourselves off as we slip into into isolationism and let the Moroccans once again become a grave threat. Bloody socialists.

The bright side about this whole thing is that people’s arbitrary support for the socialist party, will make arbitrarily supporting the fascist party much easier to stomach.

And so continues the long standing tradition of voting out the parties that have been successful. Surely, the goons cry out in a red chorus, the socialists will build a utopia. I eagerly await the reactionary backlash and subsequent purges, and will be happy to cast another royalist vote if that’s the way the wind is blowing.

RabidWeasel posted:In terms of reforms Al-Andalus is a loving horrible place to live in compared to most of real Europe in the late 19th century, which is an offensively low bar. I just would like our factories to not be powered entirely by children working 16 hour days. Oh, absolutely. I’ll just rally against any attempt to implement full socialism because I feel it makes very little sense to go from decades of elitist rule, to socialists somehow achieving a full sweep of the house and then everyone voting socialist from then onwards. Also, have we ever even had a mass uprising that wasn’t nationalist or reactionary?

In game terms, though, yes, I don’t think there’s any reason to never not pass the healthcare reforms. I don’t believe Hash should mod the game as people are suggesting. If the people aren’t revolting on sufficient numbers to threaten our proud empire, then the plebs will receive no concessions.

I’m extremely excited to see the vast conservative elements of the country freak the gently caress out over the socialists being in charge. Game mechanics wise, socialism is arguably the best choice besides maybe communism, depending on their military policy. On the other hand, voting in socialists makes no sense. The last time you folks tried something like this, you unironically passed a bill demanding max loans be taken out, and helped cause the complete dissolution of the Al-Andalus state.

Lord Cyrahzax posted:I mean, he’s absolutely not wrong. The two most boring parties are duking it out over whether to turtle for a decade, or to do that while making the occasional diplomatic overture. Yeah. Socialists will just build railways for a decade, do nothing fun or interesting internationally, and then continue to do nothing on the international level besides releasing colonies. And then the goons will either continue to vote for the boring party, turning the fun Victoria 2 late game into railway tycoon, or they’ll get bored of the boring party and deliberately sabotage the nation. The one bright side about the socialists is that they might deprive the Maijis of their power, or try to at least.

Take as long as you need, please. We need a good long break to evaluate why choosing the socialists was an objectively bad choice, both in narrative sense and entertainment value, and how best to go about removing goons from the political process. We wanted a colonial empire, so we killed Africans and Indians for it. Then we handed Africa over to a crazy, if competent, dictator who ruled with an iron fist. His chosen successor was then legitimised by the government and the socialist party has directly aided the formation of a state that makes mainland Iberia seem like a socialist utopia where every man lives free. Now we want full communism, because despite preaching about how unjust the reactionary state of al andalus is, establishing a one party state that’ll kill the clergy, nationalise the citizenry, and kill millions to spread the wonders of communism, we apparently don’t care about being humongous hypocrites.

Hashim posted:Alright guys, let's calm down a bit. Al Andalus is communist now, and even though we've got a dictator, that doesn't mean things can't change in the future. The reason everything is wretched atm is simply because we've had a string of assassinations, violent revolution, civil war and the Great War all following each other without break. Not exactly the best time for democratic elections, is it? No government or ideology is going to survive all of that with their ideals intact, and especially not ours, where aristocratic privilege and class tensions were still going strong into the 1910s. The revolution will be crushed by next Christmas anyway, so it’s all good

Dance Officer posted:In my opinion one of the great mysteries of our time. The audience is a loud minority. Victoria is a moderately complex series (for paradox) that’s not the easiest to get into, and paradox would have to choose between continuing their trend of simplifying games, or take a risk and hope that a new complex game can satisfy the Victoria audience, as well as drawing newer players in. So I doubt it’s a wise business decision from them. Plus, I guarantee you the Victoria playerbase will never be satisfied. Kinda would like to see the immense salt if they added mana, though.
