This just seems like yet another primary proxy battle that will be fought over the thinnest of differences. Have any of them put out any plans on moving the party forward?
Which primary battle do you think was fought over the thinnest of differences? Actually, what do you even mean by "proxy battle"?

But didn't the Democrats outspend the Republicans by some tremendous margin in this past election?
Hillary outspend Trump, but I don't think that necessarily means the Democrats outspend the Republicans outside the presidential race/in general. Wasn't there a lot of talk about the DNC basically being a giant vacuum sucking money out of local/state races to fund presidential campaigns?

"Rigged" isn't the best word, but it's true that the DNC violated its neutrality and tipped the scales for Clinton. She almost certainly would have won the nomination anyway, but the DNC's behavior during the campaign was still unacceptable. One can see why Bernie supporters were pissed.

Even though "rigged" is a bit strong, I was really happy to see Perez validate legitimate critiques of the DNC's underhandedness. That is, until he walked back those comments.
Couldn't the whole "clearing the field" previous to the actual primaries not also be seen as a form of rigging? Not by the DNC specifically so much as the democratic leadership in general perhaps, but I could see Bernie having a similar advantage to the one Trump had if it had been a more competitive one - standing out in a sea of establishment candidates all trying to undermine each other because they don't take him seriously.

Biden is now popular, both inside the party and outside of it. Being vice president took him from gaffe-prone also-ran to legitimate presidential contender. It wasn't just Clinton that cleared the deck for Presidential candidates in 2015. Everyone was getting out of the way of both Clinton and Biden, until Biden removed himself from the running because of Beau's death (and because most likely because his health isn't that great).

However you feel about Obama as a president, there is a distinct Obama wing of the party, and Biden's endorsement of Perez was clearly seen as a signal of support from it.
Really, they were all quite smart to leave the deck, considering the price Biden paid for not doing so immediately.

It's typical for serial killers to perfect their methods over their career. Clinton probably had a lot of messy attempts back in the day, had evolved into a more skilled killer by the time she convinced Vince Foster to kill himself, and has now perfected her craft to the point where she is not even suspected by a suspicious public, even when she has the most obvious of motives.
