If not, why the gently caress wouldn't you try that again when it worked good and got you a TD?

I'm probably an idiot but I'm not a big fan of Musgrave. gently caress Norton too

Don't blame the playcalling. Jesus, Oakland had a top 5 passing and running game this year, making GBS threads on Musgrave is some reddit-level trash. Raiders had a really strange rash of injuries to important starters last three weeks of the season and while disappointing this is their best season in 40 years. Time to look toward FAs/draft .

KNj does need to go, though. Been saying that since last season. He's a terrible Xs and Os guy.

There was definitely some bizarre playcalling early in the game but yeah it wouldn't have mattered anyway. No way we were winning any playoff game (maybe even any game period) w/o Carr.

I've heard other forums mention getting Wade Philips as DC but it's probably just the usual fan-talk bullshit. One thing that is cool though is that the NFL has been put on notice. The Raiders are back. We look a lot more attractive for good coaching staff and solid FA's looking to win w/o having to overpay a lot for them.

Amazing season, so happy to have been along for the ride and it reignited my love for football.

edit: just looked at the schedule, yeah, the Lions were probably actually always mediocre, they beat nobody of real note all year, and needed comebacks to win most of those.

That's not quite fair. The Eagles turned out to be a bust sure, but the Vikings were Hot poo poo midseason and would have made the playoffs had the Lions not had both of those miraculous comebacks. The Lions were never great, but there were certainly flashes of greatness before the offensive line died and Riddick's wrist fell off.

The lions were literally a few lucky breaks away from being the browns this season. AND now we are stuck with this lovely head coach for another year at least because he accidentally stumbled into the playoffs.

The Vikings were no longer hot poo poo by the time the Lions faced them the first time, they were in the throes of their mega collapse and had just been embarrassed by the Eagles and Bears. The shone had worn off. The Eagles were actually the more impressive win at the time because the Eagles hadn't yet lost.

The Lions were sufficiently mediocre. There is some good stuff on that team (Stafford, Riddick, Tate) and some real bad stuff and it balanced out in the end. NFC was just a weak overall conference this year and the Lions had the ball bounce their way enough. They could have theoretically had an extra win if not for a poo poo call in the TItans loss.

There's reason for optimism in there but they need to make the right moves this offseason or they're gonna miss the playoffs next year because the schedule will be harder and they are effectively a "on the brink" team and not a real contender.

Lions had one of the worst DVOAs this season. How they got into the playoffs is a mystery.

Anyway some thoughts:

- Finally nice to see our running game flourish. Rawls suddenly now owns the franchise record for rushing yards in a playoff game.
- Some insane catches by our WRs.
- I'll say we benefited from poor officiating, but the Lions played like rear end that it didn't matter in the end.

Woo on our way to Atlanta, where we have to face Matt Ryan at home without Earl Thomas. Its gonna be bad.
