Speaking of Ecuador, according to this article their leftist government has been doing pretty well over there.

https://www.thenation.com/article/ecuadors-left-wing-success-story/

quote:

The results for the decade of left government in Ecuador (2007-16) include a 38 percent reduction in poverty and a 47 percent reduction in extreme poverty. Social spending as a percentage of GDP doubled, including large increases in spending on education and healthcare. Educational enrollment increased sharply for ages 17 and under, and spending on higher education as a percent of GDP became the highest in Latin America. Average annual growth of income per capita was much higher than in the prior 26 years (1.5 versus 0.6 percent), and inequality was considerably reduced.

Can anyone ITT confirm?

woops! looks like he's gonna fall short in the first round so it's suddenly taking way longer to count the votes for some reason. perhaps the australian rapist hiding in Ecuador's London embassy's linen closet can shed some light as to why

Lenin is an idiot. He can barely mumble a coherent sentence together. If he wins, he will leave the presidency a few months into his term and his VP will become president. Right now there are protest in Ecuador because the gov is taking its time counting votes and there is evidence of fraud.

i think the measuring stick for how well a south american leftist government is doing is how often the head of state's cigars explode or how often their plane has engine failures

Is this right?
i spent three consecutive christmases in between Lima, Peru and Pampa Melchorita several (10ish) years ago

it was mind-boggling the wealth disparity between the peruvians who lived in the resorts peppering the panamerican highway south of Lima where you would routinely see porsche suvs and land rovers carrying both a nanny and a housekeeper to their condo resorts pass a dude with a donkey pulling a cart full of vegetables

also, the hand-painted Fujimori (KEIKO LA FUERZA!) stuff everywhere made me look up why in the world a japanese family would be a famous political dynasty in loving Peru of all places

and i also just looked at facebook and holy poo poo Keiko used Rudy loving Guliani as an advisor during her 2011 presidential campaign

So they just passed an outsourcing law in Brazil in a surprise session that will brutally gently caress labor here and are soon to pass a pension law that will extend women's retiring age by five years and since people here are loving simps there will be a few isolated protests but everyone will stop giving a poo poo in two months while the Government removes every protection that the laborer had here in the name of 'economic recovery'.
