A forum dedicated to elections... and yet we aren't actually running any of our own? This is an outrage, and thanks to the new forum rule it's one that I'm finally motivated to fix!

So how is it going to work? My basic idea is that this is the perfect time to play with alternate election systems, so I'm initially thinking:

we'll make nominations (and seconds), and then cast our votes for the nominees of our choice (which might be ourselves). At that point, anyone who received votes becomes an elector with a vote strength equal to the number of votes they received, and we proceed to the next round of elections. This continues until only one candidate remains at which point they commit to the rules of their term for presentation to the public, and then we go back to said general public for an "up/down" vote - if it's down, the process starts anew with the candidate banned from the nomination pool!

Things will move along quickly, at the rate of one step per day, until we have a victory! Someone is elected official unofficial ruler of C-Spam. Their final proposals will include when the next elections will be held and how they will happen and whatever else they want that they think will get them elected - along with a toxx to abide by the terms of their proposal should they win.

This is the full extent of what I am capable of.

If I can get moderator support, I'd also like to do a few additional things:
1) The elected ruler becomes an Idiot King for the duration of their term.
2) In the case of a down vote at the final stage, the failed nominee gets probated, and everyone who posted in the final thread including me receives a lesser probation.
3) Special avatars/badge/token or whatever for the winner for the duration of their term, and a different one for being a past ruler.

This thread is for discussing any changes you want to how this will work, throwing out ideas, making your pitches to other people, and suggesting potential nomination candidates.
