I like that when Yugoslav was invaded by Nazis, partisans kicked them out and then (by comparison to the USSR anyway) the communists came naturally to power, stalin freaked out because he couldn't control Tito and then excommunicated him from the cominform. anyone associated with tito was arrested and shot, and then america was like fuk yeah, lets help this dude out, and gave a literal communist dictator a bunch of aid money all because tito had RIGHTEST DEVIATIONS

another one of my favorite stalin stories is when it started getting anti-semitic. in romania, the prison faction in romania started eyeing the muscovites influence and wanted their share, Gheorghiu-Dej told stalin the muscovite leader ana Pauker was a threat and that she too enthusiastically greeted the isreali envoy about her jewish heritage, so stalin ordered her arrested based on charges of being too jewy basically
