Yeah I figure they expected the soldiers to finish the job and by the time they failed they couldn't get together a combat ship before Delaney reached the blockade. This series got renewed, right? It'd probably have worked better as a single series so they could actually show what Delaney was doing it all for, rather than keep the mystery going for the future.
