Everyone loves Secret of Mana / SD2, and while that is indeed A Good Game, SD3 basically took everything from that game and made it better, specifically the partner AI.

It's a shame that the Mana series had a slow descent into badness after that game. Legend of Mana was good, but not quite SD3 level, and then everything after that was quite bad.
