I could write a whole ton about the NFC South here, but Wikipedia has all the information you need to know. The NFC South is the only division since the 2002 realignment to have each of its teams make a conference championship game appearance: Tampa Bay (2002), Atlanta (2004, 2012, and 2016), Carolina (2003, 2005 and 2015), and New Orleans (2006 and 2009). All four members of the NFC South have made postseason appearances before entering the division in 2002. Also since 2002, each team has won at least three division titles, the only such division in the league. Our last Super Bowl winner was the New Orleans Saints. Before them, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won a Super Bowl as well. Our last NFC champion was the Carolina Panthers. Currently, the Atlanta Falcons are poised to make a Super Bowl appearance if they can beat the Packers on Sunday.

We have the best food, the best quarterbacks, and the best looking women. We are also the humblest. The NFC South (thread) will rise again!

Ever since the division was artificially created following the realignment of 2002 the South is made up of three former NFC West teams (ATL, CAR, and NO) and one NFC Central team (TB). As a result the deepest rivalries in the division is between the Falcons and the Saints, due to a long shared history.

As a Bucs fan, gently caress the panthers meh on the others. I'd root for ATL to win the SB if they make it. But lol rooting for Cam last year.

Can't do that at all. I'm pretty sure I was meh on the Panthers last year because I was pulling for Peyton, but no way can I root for Atlanta. I realize that I'm in the minority on this one though as they're seen as the plucky never winning underdog as we were in 2009. If the Falcons win Sunday, I'm a huge AFC fan no matter who wins.

It was a moment of weakness when I just couldn't bear the thought of the seahawks making it to another one. And a second moment of weakness when I felt the same about the packers. I have a lot of irrational dislike of random teams. And here we are now. Having to root for the pats. How awful.

Two years ago, we took a cruise during the Super Bowl. They put it in the main theater, and had a tailgate party where roughly 90-95% of the people were rooting for Seattle. Five percent of us rooted for the Pats, and on the final interception, you've never seen a room so full of positive energy just suddenly deflate.

It was glorious.

The only issue I have rooting for the Pats: if Brady wins, he now has five rings. I've always admired Joe Montana even as he was carving up the Saints and I think he is the best QB ever. If Brady has five Super Bowl rings out of seven attempts, would he now be the best QB ever? I realize the RINGZ argument is hollow for some, but that's pretty freaking impressive to get five Super Bowl wins in a career.

Not anything to lose sleep over, though.

It would be a never ending parade of memes and jokes for months and months. But Atlanta? They've never called themselves America's team. Their fanbase never attempted to claim credit for wins. They don't have spoiled, self-important fans. No one really cares enough to make fun of them, aside from Saints fans.

That's why I'm asking about the fire re:smoke.

Rumors are the wide receivers are feuding with Cooks right now and kinda want him gone. Maybe that's all smoke to lower his trade value?

Cooks started it last year when he complained about not getting enough touches, and the thought at the time was "Closed mouths don't get fed." Depending on who you believe, he wants out / it's all a smokescreen / Payton wants him gone / he's staying for two more years.

I mean, it's draft time, and crazy crap can happen (JIMMY WAS TRADED?????). But then again, sometimes it just doesn't. How many years has Sean Payton left the Saints or Drew Brees been traded away? But every year, there's always a rumor....

As far as feuding, the idea is that Cooks supposedly "knows" that Michael Thomas is the Saints star WR of the future and not him, thus the jealousy.
