I mean obviously yeah, don't just grab some random guy because he's got the patriots logo on his back. But it's the job of NFL front offices to know about their opponents so I think if a team doesn't have good intel on what opposing coordinators have talent, they're a badly run team and should work on that.

yeah, but they've also had a lot of stupid QB decisions in that same period of time, and breakout star coaches are not that common no matter what method you use to get them: even doing it right you're likely to whiff for a long time.
