Yeah, for Ford, their "Halo Car" is the GT, for GM it's the Corvette. If Chrysler were to join in as a factory team (lol fat chance), they would homologate the Viper for GTLM (though apparently they would need to completely redesign the road car to restart production because it lacks side-curtain airbags which are now required) and GT4ify the Challenger (as it sits in the same market segment as the Mustang and Camaro).

Aren't most 1000km races around 10hr anyway? I know Petit Le Mans was a 1000km race (or 10 hours, whichever happened first), but switched to 10 hours recently.

it was 1000mi or 10 hours (whichever was shorter), but they changed it to straight up 10 hours with the IMSA/ALMS merger

in completely coincidental news, if you're on the west coast of the US you'll probably be able to catch all of the Super GT Fuji 500km tonight. Why a race mid-week? Because it's holiday time in Japan, and they run the two days of the race weekend during the annual spring holidays in what is commonly called 'Golden Week'.

Time? I have the day off from work tomorrow so lol sleep (US East Coast)
